I am building a new 35 foot v hull and am trying to decide on power in the 600-700 hp range. either merc 600 or 700 or custom na power in the 700 hp range, looking for feedback keeping in mind the cost of each package, I can have custom 725 hp na motors with Imco drives for around 50K each. would you stick with mercs? don't know the cost of 600 or 700 mercs. thanks would appriciate some input.

Someone wants $50K for a single 725 NA engine and Bravo?
We have a drop in Sterling engine package with a drive kit for not much more than that price. We have considerably more hp, and well other things in our package like a one year warranty on the drive.

Merc 700 w/ NXT will cost more but the drive can't be compared to much other than a #6. Plus you get to run the big props if you wish. Dependability, resale, power... it's hard to beat that combination; just my 02.

What he said. Unless you plan on keeping the boat for a long time get the Merc power. 700 package is about 51-55k oem price.
