I have had a boat all my live, and so has he we now have seven together. My 2 son's keep them spotless and waxed. They are truely great boys, we have built 4 boats together so I know he can fix what he screws up. I did not factor in what someone else might do on the boat or to the boat. And yes if they got on the bow they would slip and fall, it's slick as sh$$. thanks for you replies

Better to send him with condoms and aspirin instead. No deposit, no return......and no headaches.

I'll 3rd that. I heard La Vela was closing..something about selling to build condos there. What a shame. Those were the days

and you are problably right about your kids, they may deserve the chance. i got my chance and even when i did some crazy sh... , was with my all time pals , no strangers . back in does day people was different, now you have a lot of people without principles or morals standards, that i like to call ""sue happy"
and is a shame that we have to live like that

Im know for a fact my Dad would never ever give me the boat to use at my own will!! Id say what everyone else is saying, keep the boat at home!! Kids can be stupid!!! I know cause im one of them. I have been around these boats my whole life as well and dont feel I should be able to take the Cig on my own for spring break!

I think everyone is different. When I was younger, I respected my parents more than other sh*thead kids, cuz my parents treated me better and gave me responsibility with their possessions. I got to use their cars and boat most anytime I wanted. That was tons better than anything I ever got from kids my age. I knew that, if I screwed that up, I was screwing myself over and seriously disrespecting them. You couldn't pay me to have a party at my house behind their backs or anything like that. Peer pressure didn't phase me much.
So, maybe this situation is a good one. I do understand the liability aspect of things, but maybe the son has enough common sense and maturity to make the same decisions an adult would and avoid problems. Not everyone is a hard-partying reckless moron at that age.

I'd rule out South Padre as far as sending a boat down there.
