I agree - twins are easier to maneuver, but things do break, and entry level I would rather have one engine than two to fix and freshen up and drives to repair and gas to fill up. Just my .02, but having a sense of security when something breaks in the water is important also.

I hear ya appadiahee, its definitly easier maintance and cost wise to have just one under the hatch. But hey, theres nothing cheap or easy when it comes to these pocket vacuums we float around on.

apppedigree 01-09-2008 10:01 PM

You are correct there. Hey no one said I was smart about it either. I just bought a 32 Skater with twins. It seems that as gas gets more expensive I just use more of it. Now I have to learn how to drive twins myself.

Another thing - never be a 2 boat owner. I am really shooting myself in the foot. I can only use one at a time and insurance for a 27 year old in the hi perf world is outreageous.

baddogz28 01-10-2008 11:11 AM

Yeah, that's no fun.

But ya gotta pay to play. :D

I was thinking 92+ year wise... I think it will be easier to get financed and I like the idea of updated cockpits and interiors. I do like the idea of stockish power for reliability's sake, I'm not made of money and want something that makes sense.

What do you think of this from the first page?
http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o19721-en.html

I think thats a sweet azz boat. In fact I almost bought it. I was going to this spring, but the apache kind of fell in my lap.

Also take a look at the 28 Saber. There is a member with one and he is willing to let it go for $43K (asking). New interior, rebuilt engine (single 502), new paint and trailer. I was going to buy that one as well. The twin engine 28 saber cyclone is the only boat under 30ft to receive powerboat mag.'s most outstanding offshore boat of the year (something like that). If I was in your shoes thats the one I'd get.

Lofty 01-10-2008 02:18 PM

Here's a real sweet little Donzi that won't cause you any head aches. I'm sure the owner would love to sell so don't be too shy to throw out an offer. :D

Sweet Donzi

baddogz28 01-11-2008 09:20 AM

Sharp looking boat... What year is it?

Lofty 01-11-2008 01:01 PM

Thanks, it's a 90'. I would sure love to sell her but I don't feel like giving it away.

baddogz28 01-11-2008 03:11 PM

I don't blame you on that... Nice boat.

getchasum111 01-11-2008 03:45 PM

i say the pantera....its a tank

baddogz28 01-11-2008 04:00 PM

I am kinda leaning that way too.

There's a 94 29' fountain near me for sale with twin 502's/1000hp... 189 hours, k-planes, halon system, etc... Any info on something like that? Durability?

Twin 502's might be a little much in a 25ft boat :D

29 man 29... :p

http://images.traderonline.com/EMedi...44000003_1.jpg

Talked to Frank, the guy selling it yesterday... He says it's good for mid 80's... Bought it with 120-150 or so hrs on it in 98, it has 205 now... Never really used it too much from what he said.

Really need to do your own objective research on any boat your considering. Use the search function. If your looking at a 29 fountain I'd get a single engine set-up.

jmoore1225 01-12-2008 02:03 PM

any pictures, info of the pantera for $25k you guys have mentioned?

dykstra 01-12-2008 02:36 PM

How about this Chris? Awesome rough water boat. I like the stock 454 mags too

That was through word of mouth, don't think there is an ad for that one anywhere.

That boat has already been sold:(

1CE 01-12-2008 05:27 PM

nice apache

Here are my criteria and how I plan to use the boat:

Usage: Trailering to Lake Michigan, Chain O Lakes, possible LOTO. Looking for durability cuz I know it gets big out there.
Size: 28-32
Power: twins, just in case one decides to quit on the lake... unless someone can make a really good case for a single. Looking for something 700-800 hp or so in total, I guess.
Speed: 70+?
Price: Want to spend $30,000-40,000
Year:90 or newer

I would also like a boat that is party (and female :D) friendly, so it has to have a bench in the back with a sun/swim pad + platform. A cabin is a must too... No stripper race boats.

Lookin @ the Apache:
Plumbing looks a little funky, water and fuel lines etc. but overall she looks good the triple axle trl. is a plus bet it could be had for low 30's just my .02 p.s. make sure you get rid of the picture "in the -- mirror" way up in the v-berth or should I say girth LOL and good luck ! :cool-smiley-027: do the survey ! the 29 fountain looks a-ok too.would prob.b-the-fast-1 or ck. out add #18970 on OSO a single screw ---- Fountain; get the Apache it's a real boat IMHO dual ram steering good ! - 700hp ? from a 496ci that must be way up in the RPM's

no, joe had it right, that one just went right over your head. like their ads, fountain tends to exaggerate a bit. that 29 is not a true 29. they add the swim platform and beak nose to their overall length measurement. that 28' apache brave would dwarf the 29' fountain parked side by side. sure it will run, but only in "fountain water"(flat) and we are seeing less and less of those days lately

Hey bud, if you are thinking about that 29 Fountain, maybe you will like this, I hear they handle the rough like a seizure. This one might be a little tougher to trailer than that 29 fountain you are looking at. :D

MILD THUNDER 01-13-2008 02:32 AM

Heres a cool old 8.8 meter. 454 mags with bravo carbs and thunderbolt trannies. I think the Fountain 8.8 is longer than a 29 fever but i may be wrong there. I dont think they measured the 8.8 with the swim platform.:cool-smiley-011:

whoa! nice 20 foot Gay! it's got your name on it chris, and the dealer is right up your alley.

I still can't stop laughing, that s**t is too funny.

baddogz28 01-13-2008 04:05 PM

That thing doesn't have enough pink on it for me! :D:p

OK OK OK I don't want any rough water seizures fellas.

That didn't go over my head MO I understood what he was saying.

MILD THUNDER 01-13-2008 06:33 PM

The new guy always has to take some abuse! Hey Matt, whats your opinion of the old thunderbolt trannies? I think they are comparable to the velour drive borg warners.

omerta one 02-06-2008 08:49 PM

Here is a nice 33ZX Donzi with fresh power, nice cabin ammenities and ride. I think you could get it for $60k or less. The guy is ready to sell, wants to move up.

How many hours on your pachanga? Does it have the cool pachanga style exhaust pipes out the swim platform sides? I will let my buddy know, price seems good.
