Intolerant1 01-29-2002 12:48 AM

I think Carl Sagen said it best:

"Doppler Effect, we dont need no stinking Doppler Effect.

LutzParty 01-29-2002 12:52 AM

OK im pleading the 5th on this one.

  :D

laster 01-29-2002 07:18 AM

OK, I'm a little shakey on this but, disregarding the effects on you of traveling at or near light speed, in theory, the light from your lights would leave you at 186,000 miles/sec same as if you were stationary. You see, the speed of light is a universal constant. It's time that is the veriable in this equation.

cuda 01-29-2002 07:58 AM

I'm not sure of the answer, but you may want to ask Steven Wright if he ever found out. :D

Remember, they used to think we would die if we went over 100 mph
:D :D :D

who's holding?.. because you guys are ate up :D

diligaf 01-29-2002 08:34 AM

Puder, DUDE,,, you should spend less time listening to O&A and more time in remedial writing. Do you look at what you write ??

Laster is right...Einstein taught us that time is relative not the speed of light..distant stars that hubble looks at have been dead and gone for billions of years, yet the light for them keeps traveling through space..this is a way we can roughly estimate the age of the universe..14-20 billion years old..Those ancient stars that are gone now are the very stars that produced the atoms that make up our very own bodies...We are children of the stars...thank you ;)

01-29-2002 09:40 AM

would it really matter anyway, since matter becomes infinite mass at the speed of light?

:)

Bill272 01-29-2002 09:47 AM

If a man speaks in a forest, and there’s no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?

supercrash 01-29-2002 09:53 AM

Jeff....Matter can not travel at the speed of light...only photons..and maybe a hypothetical particle(yet to be discovered)that travels faster than light and backwards in time. ;)

Hot Boat 01-29-2002 10:08 AM

Bill now theirs one that Einstein never thought of. :D :D

supercrash 01-29-2002 10:33 AM

Hot Boat...Einstein did address that question in the last years of his life and the answer is ...YES ..OF COURSE HE IS WRONG...The animals in the forest are witness to his ignorance...therefore exposing the truth.. :D ;)

Gordo 01-29-2002 10:50 AM

ROFLMFAO !!!!

Bill272 01-29-2002 11:26 AM

Supercrash, who's side are you on here? :p

BTW, I saw in your profile that you have a 24 Formula in Chicago. Does it say "Outta Commission" down the side??

wild willy 01-29-2002 11:29 AM

i new we had some rocket scientist on this board!!! WOW WOW

supercrash 01-29-2002 11:50 AM

Bill272....No thats not me..it's a 85 21 ft. f3ls , 7.4 Bravo 1 ..It's mostly in the air.. :D And it's for sale this spring..Large cuddy in this one. :) ..looking to upgrade..If someone would like to put up their 32AT for sale next winter for me that would be mighty fine of ya..I will be on the lake this summer on a couple of wave runners and buddys boats but plan on hitting loto at least three times this summer...just need to mooch rides. :D sorry the wife likes to call it a 24...it can split some big waves

I believe they would illuminate, but not project.

thisistank 01-29-2002 03:08 PM

Ok first in regards to the whole stars burned out for billions of years......Has anyone actually been looking through a telescope and seen a star die?

Jeffrey boy, You need to get a pole in the middle of that room and bring some strippers over for a little show for all of your OSO boys brother!! ;) :D :D

Mike Merola,

The correct saying is this: "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it does it make a sound?" :p :p :p

mattyboy 01-29-2002 07:38 PM

if you are traveling at the speed of light you are light so you could actually be a ray of light being projected from a larger vehicle, so we are all little lights in a bigger light.
what the #$@! who needs head lights any way going that fast you hit something it's all over ;) :p
need a beer and a smoke now got a headache
if a tree falls in the forest cut it up for firewood!

Mattyboy

36spectre 01-29-2002 08:06 PM

The lights would work normally relative to the occupants in the space craft.

Cignificant 01-29-2002 10:54 PM

Sorry..

My boat goes 70mph. A zillion mph is not reality, unless Whipple comes out a quad-qua-wua-hua-kila-nua-jua-bual-qad-quadillion blower!!

I don't give a crap what happens if I can travel at the speed of light - ain't gonna happen before I meet my maker!!!

Dock Holiday 01-30-2002 07:22 AM

Come on guys, I need some help with this theory on Darkness.

Scarab28 01-30-2002 12:35 PM

OK - The next time your out boating, go 60 MPH and throw a baseball staight in front of you. Do you have time to duck?

Intolerant1 01-30-2002 01:05 PM

Heres a little trick with a radar gun that applies. While driving point the gun at a staitonary object and it will show your speed. Now push the gun forward as hard as you can and the speed will increase by 2 or 3 mph.

Rambunctious 01-30-2002 02:13 PM

Intolerant, sounds like we were just disclosed to the trick you cops use to get us speeders into bigger tickets,..."he's doing 79 in a 55 hmmmmmmmm, if i thrust the radar gun at him, I can get him into a 25+ ticket bracket and really ruin his day,

Now, if you are pulling a radar gun trailer down the street, and it falls off... what was it's max speed...(sory that was a previous story )

glad to meet you at the Chicago show, shoulda gone to pizza with us. ;)

glassdave 01-30-2002 04:40 PM

hey . . .its a trick question . . . spaceships dont have any headlights :p :D :p :D  :p
