Garmin gps help!

Default Garmin gps help!

just bought a brand new Garmin GPS 76 at boaters world, but the pc interface cable (9 pin) will not fit my new laptop (15 pin) not alot of options down here for electronics, we have a radio shack. who sells a converter? any help would be great.

The 15 pin is most likely for an external monitor. Try a USB to serial (9 pin) converter.

Would think it would connect to the computer using a usb port...

Are you sure your 15 pin connector is a serial connection and not a 15 pin monitor connector?

Garmin makes a 9 pin serial to usb adapter for $60. Or you can buy 1 from this place for $30 - $40.

thanks guys,I took it back to boaters world, I will buy a better one,by the time I bought the other cable it would have been $350.00 ,I tried to go cheap,didn't work.
