Default I hear Ilmor has an Issue with........

Their water pumps not pumping enough at idle and prolonged idling (like idling through a marina in gear for a half an hour out of a marina)

I also hear they know this, and Im curious why I haven't heard about it from anyone in any thread yet.

One very easy fix is supposedly to replace their pump with a Merc unit. (even better as its probably easier to find)

Not sure if its the impeller or the housing is the issue....

BE nice to hear what the real deal is before I take delivery of the new ride.

Ilmor dude?

Didnt you call and talk to someone at the shop? I thought I heard about a Lavey boat today. We'll take care of it, if there is a problem, like we always do.

No, the only one I have spoken to about this is Jeff and my thread.

On the order "sheet" I requested a second complete sea pump housing and impeller, as a spare when traveling to remote places that may not have an ilmor dealership (its those places things always fail) and I was told about a mod.

Call might have come from Lavey about my rig as I did check Ilmor 710 on the order sheet. Still getting over sticker shock, but am told it was an awesome choice.

Jeff and Chris seem comfortable with the "fix".

I was curious if others had performed this mod or had a problem.

Not really no! Only coming in and out of the nautical in basically idling at a regatta 2 yrs ago. It sgoing to be a new experience for me.
Quent seems to be ecstatic.- and similarly experienced to myself. so thats a check.

All 3 Camire brothers hailed its *****en-ness.
(For the uninitiated these are 3 highly experienced men who I have respect for that also happen to be great guys- a rarity in this world) .... Although the teague 800 was also a revered package touted as incredibly powerful everywhere and doesn't break- Im worried a bit about remorse and the other 100 ponies I gave up. (Ilmors closed cooling won over 100 ponies here) buuuut- there's what Ive lived thrown in....A lifetime of rebuilding blower motors of ALL types has soured me.
I was never happy until I spent nearly double the money to get the same ponies with really high end parts matched well. I prefer non blown ponys to all that air pushing BS.

About 6-7 weeks if I can keep the extras list from growing into another sheet of paper.

UD,

Currently own my 2nd Ilmor powered boat. You made an excellent choice & I assure you, that you won't regret it.

Ilmor sales, service & support is unmatched within the marine industry. Just last week I toured their facility in Plymouth, MI. FIRST CLASS all the way.

With regard to your concern I personally have experienced some water pressure issues, I contacted Ilmor & they sent me the newer generation pumps & the problem was solved.
