I have not had my 382 long but I can't imagine a better boat for cruising places like Long Is sound. Mid 70's @WOT, cruises comfortably all day at 30 - 40. A/C and a Generator to keep the wife happy. Watch the weight though. I figure mine weighs in the neighborhood of 15K on the steel trailer and a full load of gas. When I bought it I towed it home empty with a gas 2WD F-250. No hills 2nd gear all the way, and the truck was NOT happy! I traded the F2 for an F-350 PS dually. That might be overkill but it's the only pickup RATED to tow that kind of load with a conventional hitch. A lawyer friend said it was ill advised to tow with a load that exceds the manufactures specifications. I don't know what the 353 weighs but you should consider the difference

If towing, consider this. The 353 I'm buying weighed in at 11,400lbs on an alluminum trailer and aprox. 50 gallons of gas. This weight does not take into account tongue weight (the trailer was still hooked up/tow vehicle not on the scale) or the extra 325lbs if your trailering full of fuel. If you go with the 38 you'd better have a monster tow vehicle.

I have a 292 and looked into the 353 and a fountain 35.. Then I thought why would I want a bigger boat when Im not planning on doing poker runs, etc...
THEN towing came to mind and well I dont feel like driving a pick up truck.

Tell you the truth the 353 was ver very nice.. If you can tow it then BUY IT......
