Help!!!

DirtyMoney 03-05-2008 05:02 PM

Which one are you looking at? There were 4 built before Jim died. I amost bought two different ones last year before I bought my Scarab and now the one I liked the most is for sale on here. They are one of the fastest straight bottom boats for the size I have come across. I owned a 24 for 9 years and you could not kill it. I knew Jim personally and wanted another Python but he passed 2 years ago and the molds were sold.

TexomaPowerboater 03-05-2008 05:56 PM

Was the yellow 34 Jim's personal boat?

DirtyMoney 03-05-2008 05:58 PM

Yes it was and had 600's in it but they played with the X-dimension on his boat and it was slower than the 500efi boats.

I Am Looking At The One In The Classifieds On Oso. Sounds Fast But How Do They Handle??do They Porpose, chim Walk At Top Speed?

RumRunner 03-06-2008 08:55 AM

But Jim's yellow boat was really fun in part throttle acceleration. It would get up to top speed in a hurry, just not as much MPH as it should have had. If I remember right I think it needed a set of shorties..

Any Info On The One In The Classifieds?

I've seen her, but don't know anything specific about her.

StraightJacket 03-06-2008 02:20 PM

Her call Tom Nabbers he used to work for Jim and can probably answer any question you might have, he owns the rights to the nameplate now, and is building our new 30'

What is the 30' based on?

DirtyMoney 03-06-2008 04:47 PM

The 34 in the classifieds is the one I wanted but at the time was out of my budget. It appears it can now be bought for a great deal, oh well if I had only waited. I saw the bought a couple months ago and it was spotless.

Are any of the ramps opened back up down by you guys?

DirtyMoney 03-06-2008 05:06 PM

I am up here by the chestatee and nothing is open up here but I believe Big Creek and Tidwell are open.

That sucks... Since they extended Clarks Bridge, you would think they were having a fishing tourny every weekend...

DirtyMoney 03-06-2008 06:19 PM

Does Clark's Bridge have water? How is the parking? Can you get to the courtesy dock?

Water... Yes (at least the far side ramp that was extended)

Parking... A fair amount, but two weeks ago I'd bet there were over 100 bass boats

Dock... HELL no. You're gonna get wet. I think there is actually enough water now if you go under the bridge to the rowing center you can (although not supposed to) use one of the floating docks there.

PARADOX 03-06-2008 07:28 PM

I concidered that Python in the OSO also, but I was not to crazy about the purple. It's been on the classified for over 9 months. Several different dealers or persons been trying to sell it. THe price is way down. I would grab it now, but I have a boat in the works. Get a survey for sure.

PROMAN 03-06-2008 08:07 PM

Just Buy The Boat Efd!!!!!!

PARADOX 03-06-2008 08:11 PM

It all started with a 78 Scarab 300 , all new deck , changed the cockpit , Race bulkheads , Flipped over now making changes to the bottom. It has been a long project and we are starting to get a little frustrated now, especially since I have a super clean 38 fever with no power sitting around.

DirtyMoney 03-07-2008 08:29 AM

So the 30 was not based off of Jim's 34?

Proman is right efd needs this boat not the outlaw:evilb:

So what was the outcome of this discussion? Did anyone end up buying the 34' Python. I too found one in some classifieds, and it seems like a really good deal and looks nice in the pics. Even has the HP500 efi's. Does anyone know how these handle in the rough water? Any comments on handling period? Someone mentioned a narrow hull, is this true?

It looks like it sits extremely low in the water.

I have my eye on several 32's and a 35' Fountains (my favorites), but trying to keep an open mind...

I'd love to hear all you guys experience and opinions.

TexomaPowerboater 03-23-2008 12:49 PM

My experience with the 24 python was great. I was suprised at how good it handled the rough. No stress cracks on the 1992 when I sold it. Strong hull and plenty fast in comparison to similar sized boats.

DirtyMoney 03-23-2008 07:47 PM

Great boats! I highly recommend a Python. The 34 is extremely fast for a straight bottom boat.

niceguy 03-23-2008 08:45 PM

I really like it, but I am afraid to get involved with it since they arent made anymore. What if I needed replacement parts? Just gonna stick with the Fountains that I like.

DirtyMoney 03-23-2008 10:34 PM

I would take the 34 over a 35 Fountain anyday and all replacement parts would either be made by other vendors or easily repaired in fiberglass.

REALLY? Can you tell me why? PM me if you'd like. I really like the way the Python looks, and the features it has.

I don't think they fabricated many parts, if any at all. It shouldn't be that hard to fix anything that comes up and there are plenty of custom shops around. OSO can also help with just about anything you need.

DirtyMoney 03-24-2008 05:23 PM

Well the 34 Python is just that a 34' boat. My 33 Scarab is bigger than a 35 Fountain and rides a whole lot better. I was on the yellow 34 Python on a Holiday weekend like a washboard and it pushed through no side to side motions. The Python also has nicer rigging for instance the hatch actuators are over $1000 a pair from Dana Marine. The 34 has some trick features.
