Interesting.....

I don't know how they could. Fountain lost $5 million dollars last year, the balance sheet shows 33 million in assets and 30 million in liabilities. So what bank in todays market would lend them money to buy Baja?

What was the cliffnote version of the brunswick/fountain deal???
From what i remember fountain was hurting and in big debt to Brunswick so Brunswick took over until debt was paid. Reggie was able to get outside funding and paid off brunswick. Is this about how it went down??? If so I cannot see Brunswick being the backer on this purchase for obvious reasons... All of this is just rumors as of now obviously so enjoy the speculation and popcorn!!! :cool-smiley-011: |

Nothing on the Brunswick Corporation's website.
 |
Er, aren't they "technically" owned by the same company anyway - when you connect the dotted lines...?
Brunswick owns Mercury, Mercury - er, "owns" Fountain, Brunswick owns Baja... Thus Brunswick owns both? Just a consolidation in brands and manufacturing plants to cut some overhead? Just surmising here. ;) |

I didn't have time to read the whole thing but something I dug up. |
For what it's worth
I heard it was Reggie and a few "investors" ....the investors have the $$$. Brunswick doesn't want to be in the performance boat business any more.....but, they shure like to sell their product to it. |
If this is all true, That would not be good for that town. I was there yesterday and it's a small pplace and a lot of people that would be out of work.
|
I thought Brunswick already owned Baja?
|
Looks like Reggie can put his investment in China to work for him now producing Baja's.
|
Its all true. Dealers have been informed of the transaction..Also there closing the plant and moving it all to North Carolina. It is sad that many of those employees will be loosing their jobs. With former Baja Blood in me, I have very mixed emotions.
|
I do not care who Reggie buys.....I still will not consider JASON SMITH my step brother:evilb::evilb::evilb::evilb:
|
Where in NC are they moving the plant to? Washington?
|
:confused:How does Fountain buy Baja when Fountain doesn't even own Fountain.:readinghelp:

Can Bayliner be far behind?

Brunswick owns Sea Ray and Bayliner also.
Reggie is going to combine all 4. It's going to resemble a Sundancer but have the Fountain hull. Be built as cheap as Bayliner and have staggered Merc 1075's with #6s hanging off the back. The new name is BaFountainliner:D |
I know of a manufacturing plant and high performance real estate mecca available in Missouri if they are looking for a nice facility. :evilb:

If they move the plant, that won't be good for Bucyrus. Half the town is employed there.
|
Heard about this a week or two ago, hoped it wasn't true. I hope bundling them together doesn't take them down together. I guess we can only wait and see.

with the econmy like this for a while and gas prices climbing boat sales declining(and forcasted to keep declining) this was inevetable.... another kick in the nuts for ohio....
downsizing is needed in a downsizing market... baja was entry level and those people r the ones being hurt by this economy |

BIG TIME! I guess we will wait and see. I find it that hard to believe they will close an entire plant down. I have been there a few times, the place is almost half size of Bucyrus itself.
I want some of your drugs. There are between 12,000 and 13,000 people in Bucyrus .... You guys really think Baja employs 6,000 plus? It definitely wont be good for our City. No factory closing is..... Its just too bad the expansions at Timken and GE wont be done by the time the Baja closes :( |
