Have been looking at some boats in the 100k rang, waiting to see if market gets a little softer, guess looking for the best deal to come along,will lowball everyone to see who bites. I think your asking 100k your want out of your boat you will take 65 to 70k.I guess it depends how much you want out of your boat.

I am looking for a Formula 400ss and expect it to be in the 200 - 300 range

All depends on condition. Great boat in outstanding condition priced accordingly ( above average ) will sell to the person that wants a no problem boat.
The folks looking for the deal will find them but their cost comes later.

As soon as I find a buyer for the 290 I will be buying a 380, hopefully Performance Mary's if it is still available :cool-smiley-026:

H20 - your Cigarette is a great looking boat- shouldn't have a hard time selling it!

Last Sept. was looking at a Formula 400SS with 20 hours for high 300s and passed. Ended up finding a very nice Cig Mistress w Myco trailer for $35k and picked up a Donzi 28' Sportsman for resto project very cheap...so when I finish tinkering I will have 2 very cool, fun and different boats for around $70k.

Summer house is on an island and we spend 6 weeks there a year and already have the 24 cuddy family boat, 16 center console kid/work boat, a few small woodys and a 21' Donzi Hornet II. Justifying $100-$400k on a boat does not make sense...I would rather sink that dough into a boathouse for the fleet!

I think it all comes down to the needs of the boater...if somebody needs/wants speed (and maybe sleeping option) than spending big dough probably makes sense. I personally can justify several boats (and their maintenance) based on my specific needs rather than 1 fancy boat that is not practical with 4 kids and island home...

To each their own...I love the diversity of boats and boaters here.

As far as the market, I have several friends who are selling boats and holding out for top dollar...I think they are crazy and have recommended they price to sell...

Like I said if you have the time and energy to tinker with a fixer upper you can do well . I used to do that with cars but when I got into boating I wanted to be on the water as much as I could not, in the garage tinkering, waiting for parts or worse yet waiting for the shop to finish up an expensive repair. With only about 12 weeks of solid summer up here in the north country I don't like problems.

Having said that I would much rather have a go fast than a cruiser.
