Never had any JL's, but my Babbs were great. I did blow one of my 6x9's and Andy Buzz took care of me and sold me a single replacement. Mine was out of warranty.
I liked the Babbs so much that I have some DC Golds that should be here any day to put in the AT.
Best price for DC Gold is at www.lafayetteradio.com and they have a lot in stock. I've got 6x9's(to fill old holes) and some of the new 7's coming. We'll see how they like the alpine pdx 4.100 amp

I have 2 10" Babbs and 2 6.5" Kickers in the cockpit of my boat and 4 5 1/4" Babbs in the cabin. You can't hurt them!!!

If you need any 10" Babbs, PM me. I have 3 extra ones that I bought used that I'll let go cheap. I also have a pair of extra 10" new Babbs....but they are my spares

Looking for more DB's thinking of (4) 10" Babb's under bench and (4) 7" or 6"X9" Babb's up by the bolster's. Anyone with any experience with the Classic vs. the Reference line of Speakers.

Thanks Steve

I didn't feel the price difference was worth it to go to the reference series. I had Babbs before, so there was no ref line. I thought they sounded very good at all volumes and I was putting 65 rms watts to them. If the reference line handled more watts, I would have thought more about it.

I have zero experience with those but I have heard great things. Sorry wish I could be more help then that....

There is only one TRUE Marine speaker out there and that is BABB. The fact that they do not have a tweeter in them allows them to be washed off with water and soap and not hurt them. They do not have a spider on the back of the speaker to allow the speaker to move much faster so that the tweeter is not needed.

Remember that the 10" Babb is a FULL RANGE speaker not just a sub woofer.

Jon

When I ordered my Babbs from FWK (former OSO member/Babbs dealer), he steered me away from the 10" Babbs. I 'think' he said the smaller speakers have better sound do to the smaller cone area=faster response time.
