|
Man! That is Crazy! Two things come to mind.
Stunt pilots flying between canon walls & You'ld better know every turn. There were alot of times I couldn't tell where the opening was to the rest of the river Lots of Rocks!! Not to mention the ones in his shorts. |
Too cool !!! Where is that river ?
|
Awesome video! Thanks for posting
|
Is it possible someone can be going down river at the same time? It's a little tight and running like that reminded me of my snowmobile accident 7 years ago. Cool video.
|
Nuts. Fun. Cool.
And thanks for letting the motor sing. Too many of these vids have bad hair metal band soundtacks. Motor's better :) |
pretty awesome
|
That's awsome. I think I could handle a ride like that but better leave the wife on the bank with the camera. :D
|
I always said the only things that would scare me are saying "I Do" and hearing "I'm Pregnant"...but that might do it too.

I'll answer some of the questions asked by folks;
1. LZH "What river is that?" Answer to that question would be the Upper Rouge River in Grant's Pass Oregon. 2. YSS "Is it possible that someone could be coming down the river at the same time?" Answer to that question would be no The river is closed to all boating and fishing traffic. All spectators are to remain a minimum of 50 feet from the bank of the river. There are numerous counties (Sherrif Boats) involved in this race. Lots of river patrols and saftey personell sweep the river before and after each individual leg of the race from. . start to finish. There are also divers on hand in case they are needed 3. Perlmudder " That's pretty serious, How deep is the water?" Answer to this question would be depending where you are on the river. The Hell's Canyon section with the High ROCK walls would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 feet deep. Don't be fooled by the depth in this part of the river though, There are some pretty nasty and weird currents in this section of water. A little bit of kelter and you just got a full time job pushing up daisys for your mistake. Other sections of the river can be as shallow as 6 inches deep. The worst sections to be in are the pools where the water doesn't seem to move much, This is where you encounter what are know to be called Sleepers, rocks that hide just under the surface waiting for some poor racer to hit it total disaster. McGary911 "Thanks for letting the motor sing without the music" Anytime everyone glad you like the vid! We made a 53 minute DVD OF THE WHOLE SEASON TO BOOT! Damn that was alot of typing! Ravencrew:D |

It was a cool video and some great skills in keeping the occupants alive.
I agree with the one post that wanted to know, "who in their right mind would do that?" Not me for sure. Safety gear ... screw that, one mishap and your helmet and head would be split wide phuckin open. Be safe and have fun as long as you can. |

Great video, but I wish the microphone was shielded from the wind better - hard to hear the engine at times. This is kind of like Autocross for the water, except double the speed and no cones.:D

Great videos. Whitewater jetboating is a blast. I crewed and navigated a couple of races a couple years ago for a friend of mine. He had a Kwik Kiwi hull from New Zealand running a 750 hp fuel injected, Whipple supercharged 502.
We ran at the Salmon River race at Riggins and the Yuba/Feather River race at Marysville California. Both places had an excellent safety staff and law enforcement. Anyone getting on the river without permission was going to jail. We fried a jet pump bearing at the Salmon River race during practice and could not run, then we won the following race at Marysville, California. The pre-run in a jet sled is very important. With a jet sled, you can stop in the rapids (under power) to look at hidden rocks and obsticles and plan your routes. The sport seems to be dying, as not too many are willing to brave the river and their equipment for very little prize money. We won the Marysville race because the only other unlimited boat DNF'd. Hopefully, the sport gains in popularity and participation. Increased prize money and popularity couldn't hurt. Here is a pic of our boat. |
