How would you compare the sound quality of the DC Golds to other more traditional speakers? My only concern is I've never heard them before and I'm thinking they may sound different than the normal setup of coaxial speakers that most of us are used to.
Thx, Joe They sound excellent and have a ton of bass. I liked them so much in my Pantera( had 4 6x9's) that I just got a pair of 6x9's and a pair of 7's for my AT. |

Have you heard the Classic vs. Reference line? Also considering (4) 9.5's under rear bench and (2) 7" or 6"x9" speakers beside each front bolster. Also looking for suggestions on amp's. Plan on driving cuddy speakers off of head unit power only like last boat. Thanks Steve |
Honestly, Sonicly they are about the same. Reference will take more power. I would probably rather see 2 of the 9.5's 2 real sub woofers and then the 7's up front. You will get better bass that way

only one way to go JL
Though I went with Eclipse for the whole boat system...Very impressed. Sh!t hits like a mo-fo. 2 twelves 14 speakers 8k watts! |
I ran 70 watts RMS with a Rockford Fosgate amp to my Babb 6x9's. They are rated at 80 rms and 300 peak, so I'm sure they'll take more power. I'm going to use an Alpine PDX 4.100 to power them this time. Test watts were 121. I'll probably back the gain off a little. The PDX is great amp, low heat, low power draw and compact. Same rms power at 4 ohms or 2 ohms.

I picked up four Babbs 6X9's from Jon back in 03. Fantastic speakers for a boat.
