I was the surprised to see that the unmaintained shelf life of the odessey was something like 7-8 years, add a year or two if you maintain it periodically with a charge. I am converting everything I have to them. Their cranking power is noticably superior BTW.

I had three of the odessey batteries in my jeep they wouldn't even last a year :(
Then i went to an optima and never had a problem.
But i know of other people that have used them and they lasted for years. The odessey should be the better ones

$520 a pair, I'll stick to lead acid batteries. I can buy 3 pairs of AC Delco or Interstate batteries for less than that. They last 3-4 years, I've never had a no start. Maybe I'm cheap, or don't have a big enough stereo but I don't see the value in the better batteries. I have no doubt they are better, but I don't think they are enough of a benefit for the cash.

The oddessey's are the best in my opinion. I will not use anything else, and I have used them all. I used to have the mentality of get a cheap battery and throw it away after a year. Problem is, a lot of times, you don't get much of a warning when they go bad. When you're stuck on the water or at the ramp cause your $hit won't start, you start to rethink that whole plan. I have used their group 24 equivalent and the group 30 equivilant and love them both. The other thing.... I usually rig a twin with a decent stereo with 4 batteries... 2 for each side and the house. Now I only use 2 of the group 30 Oddessey's and do better than the 4 standard batteries. Only 2 batteries and trays instead of 4. It works out to about the same money.Personally, I have had no luck with the Optima's and would not give you 2 cents for one. I quit selling any other batteries exept the Oddesseys. They are expensive and just took a sizable jump in price. The group 24 equivalent retails for 339.00, up from 265.00 only 6 months ago. I don't sell them at that price...quite a bit less, but still not cheap.

Oddessy and Stingers are the same battery. I ussually recommend the Stingers because they have a much larger distribution network. Almost any car audio place will sell stinger. As has been said they are expensive but you can run less of them.

My last DieHard Deep Cycle Marine lasted 9 seasons, the one before that 11 seasons. Get a big one grp 27 or 29, they cost $75 when on sale. I have never had any other brand last even close to as long. Hard to believe. I am in northern NY though with long cold winters and short summer seasons and batteries last longer when stored cold.

Ditto. :p
