I lived in NJ all of my life until 2002, and remember paying higher prices at the marina. I boated from 1985 until I left NJ, in and around Barnegat Bay. We're paying higher prices on the water, yet the marina's and/or gas stations on the water don't pay road tax on the fuel they pump so in theory you would think it would be cheaper than on land... :( Some years ago the marina had a pump that was located on land and they had to shut land pump down so they didn't have to pay the "road tax." :hitfan: |
In NJ there are all the environmental/marine taxes that get added on.

When I ran a gas dock with at friend there weren't any environmental/marine taxes that i was aware of, this was circa 1996 though.... It was still more expensvie in comparison, now it's even higher. :hitfan: |
I can't imagine what insurance is like for a marina pumping gas. Down here in FL it must be rediculous. Plus if you consider the volume that a marina does versus your corner station, I'm sure the marina has to add a much bigger margin since they don't do the volume.

It's a little out of date....if I find a new article I'll post.
