Okay, it was late, there was about a half-inch of warm Corona left in the bottle, and last month's issue of PowerBoat had slipped off my lap and fallen onto the floor. Yeah - I've been watching too many episodes of "UFO Hunters" on The History Channel...and I wonder:
We've got lots of people here - out on open water...remote lakes and the ocean. Sometimes late at night. Hopefully not too incapacitated (that wouldn't be safe) and still using a captain's skills of observation....so...
EVER seen anything strange in the sky while you were on the water - or something that to this day, you're still wondering...WTF WAS that, anyway?

Of course, I have not!

I did about 8 years ago on lake Ponchartrain. Late night fishing trip and at about 3:30 in the morning running back to the launch along the causeway we saw a bright green streak about 150 yards above the bridge. The streak was about 35' long and 10' wide and lasted about 5 second and it was gone. The streak was the same color green as a glow stick.
I was completely sober.

Not while boating but about 6 years ago we were setting decoys on the river on the south horizon something went from west to east very very fast and lit up the whole horizon and left a trail that glowed for about 5-6 minutes. For as far as we could see the whole horizon glowed from west to east. Then disapated the same way.
I know there is an MOA down there and our best guess was they were testing an Aurora type aircraft. Never heard any sound and we couldn't see what was generating the trail, but whatever it was it moved about 4-5 times as fast as I've ever seen.

oh we see "Auroras" leaving those telltale contrails all the time. the aircraft is going to be identified as the Lockheed SR-72. Uses the combined propulsion system like always assumed it would, just some variance on it. it developed out of the Falcon program run by DARPA and the USAF. it will be named "Blackswift"
ive nabbed a picture of a lit up triangle one night. no $hit. lemme go find it real quick.
