Scotty, Marc.
I think you guys could have a lot of fun, taking on some of these records that have stood for years.
We are now ready to go public with our plans to go after the record Reggie and company set between Key West and Cancun. Later this month after some more testing and break in time we will position the newest Team PREDATOR in Key West and go for it!! http://www.fountainpowerboats.com/bo...48EC_Nov03.pdf
The Fountain record is one way only. We will do it both ways. Our major sponsor is Celerity Investments.
I will be starting our own thread to discuss that in the next day or so, so we are not a distraction to your thread. The distance is 400 miles and just within range of my new Nor Tech 5000V with triple Yanmar diesels.
If the Cancun run goes well, the other record we have our sights on, is San Francisco to LA, a distance of 425 miles. That will have to wait until next summer as we are fully booked for this year. http://www.teamscarab.com/news.htm
If you guys decide to do the Chicago to Detroit run and want to include other classes of boats, we would be interested in going after the Vee hull record. We have lots of time on the Great Lakes and understand the challenging conditions. Let us know. http://books.google.ca/books?id=KNfw...l=en#PPA166,M1
Take a look at these Fabio Buzzi records. I could not come on close on any of these. There you go!

All the best in whatever challenges you decide to take on.
Bob
PS. If you decide to do Key West – Cancun – Key West, please let me at least hold the record for a few weeks !! LOL
