Things that remind you of your boat, or boating.

When I flew to Chicago to test drive my 368 Skater, I couldn't get there fast enough. I did the phenomenal test drive on what I would call a creek with Bruce Bullock and the now former owner. A lot of adrenaline pumping when you pass logs the size of telephone poles at 140. Nevertheless, I fell in love with the boat the minute I saw her in person, and had to have it.

The Flight Number on the way home after putting down the deposit was Flight Number "368", so that always cracked me up. I mean, what a freaking coincidence, right??? Meant to be as ever!

Back here in Tulsa I hit a McDonalds for breakfast every morning for my Egg McMuffin, Hash Brown, & Dr. Pepper. The price: $3.68, and yes it makes me wish I was pounding the sticks at that very moment.

Anyone else have an everyday number or experiece that reminds them of being on the water. I've got all kinds of them. :D

masher44 05-01-2008 09:02 PM

What if McD's raises the price to $3.88? :cool-smiley-027:

Racegirl3 05-01-2008 09:03 PM

My number is 22 but it has nothing to do with boating. I was married on the 22, started my job on the 22nd, both kids were born on the 22nd, was divorced on 12/10 (adds up to 22) and we walked out of the courtroom at 2:22 .... oh and my car is limited edition ... there are 2,222 of them made... :D

That's exactly what I was looking for! Great post.

boatme 05-01-2008 09:16 PM

I have been married 4 times

the significance to this number is that

1) I should have thought it over be 4 i did it 4 times
2) I am having a hard time 4getting i was that stupid
3) I often ask my self "what 4" when thinking of why I married each one
4) It is unique cause they are all the 4mer Mrs Blondin
5) I am now married 4 ever

How does this all relate to boating ??????

If I hadn't ben married so many times i could have had a boat 4 a lot longer than I had any of them :)

Everything reminds me of mine. Wish i didnt have to work, framed pic on my wall. I keep a worn out impeller on my desk to remind me of how a 100 dollar part can stop a boat dead in the water.

otis311 05-02-2008 08:27 AM

Things that remind me of my boat.

1. Paying the nut every 15th of the month

2. paying the insurance bill every quarter

3. paying the marina bill every month

4. paying for trailer storage every month

5. paying $5.65 a gallon for gas

Still love the boat and boating, but if you add it all up sometimes it just dont add up. know what I mean !!

I do forget about all the above when I get in her and fire up the engines and get out on the water and ler her rip. That makes it all worthwhile

DollaBill 05-02-2008 08:28 AM

Great sig Rob lmao.

I don't know about things that remind me of boating because it's all I think about anyway. There are moments that give me goose bumps though.

Like the smell of race fuel in the morning. The sound of a freshly started blown motor. When you turn around as you're running and see a huge rooster.

Carrying home an EDock member after a poker run party :)

6. Finding my tow rig on blocks :D

jayhawk261 05-02-2008 09:25 AM

Not my boat, but I bought a new 04 Mustang GT back in May of 04. We had to drive down to Dallas because no one in town had the color I wanted or was going to make as good of a deal. When we got there, I was looking it over and opened the door. There was a sticker in the jamb for some code and in large bold letters it read "RKN" which are my initials. Seemed about right!

Sorry, but reality hurts sometimes.

Im like Bill, I eat sleep and drink thinking of boats. I live on a lake and for 6 months out of the year i hear and see boats almost constantly, I take a crap in my bathroom and I read over the 30 back issues of boating mags that I leave lying there. Everyone of my shirts has a Cig emblem on them. I have a Cig neon sign hanging in my living room. See Brandon, there ARE alot of things that remind me of my boat and boating other than my 1st post.

There is a reason why the boat is named Cignificant other. my wife thinks I love the boat more than her :D:evilb::D

LOL, thanks man! Funny enough, before I bought it I had thought about doing an all orange one with the signature "01" on the front/sides, and have the rebel flag on the hatch with "GENERAL LEE" on both sides like the car had. :cool-smiley-011:

Ended up buying this boat instead. Maybe the next one! :drink:

You know if you guys need to get your mind off the boat stuff, Ski Doo makes some nice sleds. 120 mph in the winter is no problem!!! :D

What reminds me of boating??

The sweet smell of salt air.... Those that boat on the ocean or leave near the ocean know what I'm talking about! ;)

I agree with the smell of salt air and to another post about crossing the ICW bridges or driving down A1A. There is one bridge in particular down in North Miami Beach called William Lehman Causeway....as you climb up East all you see is blue sky then when you're at the top all you see is OCEAN right there in front of you from a 15 story height, it's beautiful anytime of day and makes we want to be out there riding the waves every time I cross it.

Cash Bar 05-02-2008 01:52 PM

I live two blocks from the ICW at the end of a wake zone. So, all day long I hear big power either pushing the sticks forward, or pulling them back depending on their direction.

It really hits me about not having my Cig. at that monent.

Glad to see ya back.
Give me a call - I got your e-mail, and I love the idea - I think we discussed it before.
I sent it to a radio station in Detroit - you may be getting a phone-call.

Considering we have two huge pictures of the F2 Cig blown up in our office on each side no matter what chair you sit in you're looking at one of them. We also have a big picture of the Sutphen in the office. So, we think about boats all day long.

Not to mention, we live on the water so we see boats all day long. Basically, I can't go a day without thinking about a boat. HA!
