I installed those a few weeks ago......very cool....but they really love their lights! Pricey!

BlackJack58 05-06-2008 09:07 PM

They are great product - I only wish I could get them in RED.

Abyss technologies in FT Lauderdale. Get at least the S-800s, Donzi put the S-600s on my boat and there not bright enough. I like the blue better then the white. I was amazed at the price difference between different companys who carry them. Good luck.

I was wanting to put these on my next boat as well but had primarily only seen them on cruisers. If these are the ones that I am speaking of that are drilled into the transom, can this cause any weakness in the hull of an offshore boat that obviously takes a beating in performance running. Appreciate your responses. Hammer

Don't rush perfection my friend, trust me, the purchase won't embarrass you when it is completed, I might, but the boat will not!!!!!! Back to the question you jerk, any ideas on compromising the hull with the LED's?

Enforcer2 05-07-2008 05:46 PM

Thanks for the reply guys, as far as compromising the structure, I am concerned with any holes I drill in the transom or bottom.

I wouldn't think there would be any structtural concerns unless the thru hull ......like any was not properly fitted and sealed. Then you naturally will eventually end up with a soft transom, bottom etc...Especially in a cored boat.

Ocean Led now has a flush mount were only the wire goes through and also one that the wire is actualy on the top of the light and is run on the exterior of the transom.

Chris Sunkin 05-07-2008 06:07 PM

Just ordered one of these for the Cig. Using it as a stern light. I don't really like to boat at night so I just wanted something that would be semi-legal if I got caught out. The one pictured has a tall base. Mine has a base about 3/8" tall.

maybe he's trying to compensate for something:hitfan::party-smiley-004::D..he has the next size up from mine.it is straight across more rectanglar where's mine is tapered off..both look good...Stu/Jackie's 39 is one of the nicest 39 Iv'e seen..it's blinged to the max..and those lights are way cool, and yes, you can get many girls on there for photo shoots.

Audiofn 05-08-2008 07:05 AM

Hmm I wonder if I can put them in my hull bottom to fill in the holes that the former owner put in for the water intakes.... The foolish guy put them in front of the drives so they had to go as the slip numbers were off the charts. Maybe I can put one of these flush units in there and save on having to redue my hull bottom..... Spend the money on the bling or repainting the bottom of the boat....

Those pictures look re-touched. I'm not saying they don't look good in real life, but the pics seem very enhanced to me.

Thanks for the link... In the vids you can see the weird contrast with the camera issue and can see the real look in most of the shots.

Nice stuff!

Enforcer2 05-08-2008 08:17 PM

I'm definetly sold on them ,

I have been talking with a rep at Ocean Led (Zack ) and he has been extremely helpful.

I'm gonna eventually put them under the dock as well.

Being in the business of selling and installing LED lights, I will share this with you. Most of the junk you see on the market is offshore (no punk intended) is just that, junk. Vast claims of performance and design are cheap imitations of US products. The company we are distributors for design, engineer and produce their own products. Example of quality: NASCAR track safety lighting (the racetrack to the vehicles on the track) are all Whelen products. We should know, we build all of the Ford Motorsports pace vehicles, yes all with Whelen products.

Pic shown is my current boat project with a series 400 white LED product for the transom light. 71 led diodes emits a fair amount of light at a very low amp draw. Flush mount with only holes for the mounting bolts/screws and a wire entrance hole. Available in colors too. Can be programmed to flash or steady burn. PM for pricing. All of the Whelen product available at discount to all OSO members. The best for the best.

Led Lights

Hey guys
Its just a tad premature but I am in the process of testing led light strips which are .5 meter long
available in red/ blue/ white/ green/ amber
I will be bringing them to market within the next 30 days or so.
Have some installed under a swim platform/ gunwales/ and back seat as well as inside side vents/ really cool and expect to be very competitive with the pricing.:party-smiley-004:

I havent see any other marinized cree led's yet.

For the exterior (beach lighting) Im going with the Ocean LED A6 sized Amphibians expenseive as he(( but worth it.

For the interior Im using 20 of the the Ibex award winning Apeirons LED's that cycle through 3 colors.

I feel like Im building the worlds most expensive 28 ft boat.

Has anyone seen any under the water line Red LEDs?
I suppose Red wouldn't be good under power for Navigational reasons. But I think it would look cool at the marina docks. for a boat with a red theme.

You know..........I think the wave length of the red color gets filtered by the water a lot. I really don't think red would be good at all underwater.

I found this one, very affordable. But the housing is made of PVC. Seems kinda cheap. I could just imagine that breaking off. Thats alot of mass being supported by a 1/2" Piece of plastic NPT.

I just installed two Lumitec Sea Blaze 3's. Our company has benchmarked these against the Ocean LED A12's and they are very close in light output, and the Lumitec are approximately 1/2 the price.

The Sea Blase 3's have three color modes Blue, White, and Blue/White Combo.
