Have they finished one yet? I remember reading about it being built a couple months back.

How are Checkmate boats these days? There were lots of the on the lake in Nashville I use to run on and the absolutly flew. Checkmate has been doing outboard spot boats for a long time.

I do not know of any 25' CC with a 300 on it that will do 70. Most 25' boats with a I/O (I know more weight) take around 450-475hp to do an honest 70. Add the aero drag a CC has and you will need probably a pair of 250 2 strokes to hit 70 in a 25' CC.

A 22 flats boat might hit 70 with a 300 on it!

The Potomac river is the one of the best bass fisheries on the east coast. The State Park/ Marina hosts 80 bass tournaments a year. I have talked to many of those guys whos boats run over 70 mph, some close to 80, insurance for them is dirt cheap...according to them. Go figure

And just think of all the bass boats running out there with big power.

Never seen a checkmate in a cc version before. Velocity is claiming 75mph with a 300xs in a 22 cc with no top. So it can be done with a single motor, wait until that 350 merc racing motor comes out. I can see one of those on a yellowfin 24 doing 75.
