looks like your real close to A/C and Trump Marina

Wobble 05-20-2008 09:34 PM

I was amazed when I was able to down load a whole years boating into Google earth and see where I had been and how fast I was going. Later I was able to do the same thing when four wheeling and create accurate maps of all our trails.

This new inexpensive almost real-time tracking available almost anywhere just blows me away. It may not be quite George Jetson but just think about all the technology behind it.

GPS, atomic time keeping, personal computers, hand held devices visible to orbiting satellites and of course the vision to make it all possible

It is an amazing time we live in

DRIPPINWETII 05-21-2008 07:29 AM

Gl,

Whats the height of that boat? My friend Mark ran into trouble coming up the Hudson with his 48 Silverton. He was 17' 3" after taking his radar arch off. They had to put 3000 gallons of water in the bildge to get it under one of the bridges and still scraped the top going under! Your's looks to be even taller?

Jamie

Made it to AC around 11:30 Last night....

Quit the run on the outside got a little rough so we hugged the coast of Maryland and Delaware, by the time we needed to cross Delaware Bay it had subsided somewhat and all went well...

Had to stop and empty the fuel filtres in 6 footers thanks to both my crew mates that was done relatively painlessly.

Shooting to make it to Albany and maybe a porton of the Champlain Canal tonight and again if all goes well we will be in Vermont Thursday.

That Spot thing rules...

A BIG thank you for NJgr8fll and CasinoRunner for helping us dock and meeting us upon our arrival in AC around 11:45 PM. We had a great time on the rig and strangely enough for someone that has always had speed boats we could all fit comfortably, drink and tell each other lies without having to open a hatch to raise your elbow!!! :D

Thank You Very much for the gift and they had the privilege of contributing to the first dead soldier on the new boat, nothing like a bottle of Jack to whind down 200 miles of salty offshore running...

Great Jersey hospitality guys come up and see us this summer.

waterheater 05-21-2008 09:11 AM

Glad to see you're making good time safely. See you when you return. I'll bring the Grey Goose. :D

cowisl 05-21-2008 09:16 AM

Give a call when you enter New York harbor..i may be able to grab a pick of the rig

NJgr8ful 05-21-2008 11:01 AM

Yes that was roughin there last night. We didn't even venture off into the casino at all! LOL :D I almost ended up as a stowaway and for no other reason than I could barely walk! Great time, great crew, fantastic yacht. Thanks for having a couple degenerate NJ boys (well one claims to be be from NY, NY :D) aboard for a few  drinks or bottle :drink: Was (still am) suffering for it this morning, no meeting today :evilb:

Be safe, hope to see ya up in VT
Chris

Well Albany Yacht club it is!!!

wananewboat 05-21-2008 02:52 PM

Do you take the Hudson to Fort Edward and then the Champlain Canal? It looks very small on the map.

LMAO. I dont remember what spare time is anymore. Im pouring the foundation today and I have depositions tomarrow am for the National Marine B.S otherwise Id love to meet you. Id say go up to Troy and stay at the docks right at the foot of the Federal lock. Troys nightlife is much better the Rennssalear. I think the lock starts operation at 900am on weekdays

nordic95 05-21-2008 05:16 PM

GL,

Be careful just north of the split of the Erie and the Champlain canal. As you pass under the bridge about a 1/4 mile before C1 lock the canal is very shallow this year.I was following a 26' Bayliner this past Saturday and he ran just a little wide to the outside of the channel and hit bottom. The middle of the channel was only 5' at it deepest point so take it slow.
