Problems with Chat
We have noticed that some people are having trouble getting the chat room. Let's start off with this question. What browser are you using and what version is it? Please only list this and then we will go on to some other questions. OSO

Never
I've never been able to get in. Each new time I try, it asks me to load the software, I click yes, loads it (supposedly), then it tries 3 times to "connect" and fails. I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 under Windows 2000.
|
No problems, win 98 IE 6.
|
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0. I do not even see an icon for a chat room. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
|
miller, the chat button is to th the left of your post. After you enter there is black box at the bottom. you type in that and then press enter.
|
I can get into the chat room,no problem. But then what? I don't know what to do next, cannot find a way to say anything. What is the next step to join the chat?
|
Just type away. It shows up in the black line under the messages. Then hit enter.
|
Windows 98.
80% of the time I get right in, the other 20% it says "connecting to washington dc" & some numbers. Then...."disconnecting, invalid server" |
Internet Explorer 6
Says I am unregistered. when I click on the "enter Chat" I get this message. "You are not registered or not logged in! To register please see the register link in the main window. To login please fill in your username and password in the main window." There is no where to fill in anything. The other day I use to be able to go to where it looked like it was going to work but all that came up was that it was trying to connect to Washington but was unsucessful. Cordell |
IE 6.0 Windows ME
Got in before but every time I posted a reply a little comment about not being registered popped up. Last night I couldn't get in at all. |
Other than the first day it was available, I've had no trouble getting in.
|
OSO.......I have IE 6 w/W2000 Professional. Last night it took a while getting connection failures. Once I was on though, there were no issues.
|
I am running windows Explorer 6.0 on windows xp. It starts by saying-connected to IRC Webmaster 6667 Then it says connected please wait-then it says 1 boatnut erroneus nickname, connection close, and it does not let me in. It does this 3 times and then disconnects

When I hit the link for "Live Chat", it says "Welcome David" and some other stuff, with a link for "Enter Chat".
I get in as "David1". I don't know where the "1" is coming from as that is not me, I don't think. Then I can type with no problem. After about 30 seconds, I get a message on the screen: --NickServ--You have 40 seconds to comply before your nickname is changed. Then after 20 seconds: --NickServ--You have 20 seconds to comply before your nickname is changed. And of course after another 20 seconds, it says: --NickServ--Your nickname is now being changed because "David1" is a registered nickname. ***David1 is now known as Guest83041 (or another random number) The software has changed me from "David1" to "David2" and "David3" also. So what am I supposed to comply to? This sux! Oh Yeah-Win98SE/ Internet Explorer 5.5 |
Chat login ???
I run Windows XP with IE 6.0 Have used the chat befor and worked ok. Now its ask me to comply (I guess login?) only I have no clue as to how or where this happens. Then my name gets changed to Guest????. I am sure Jeff did this so people can't steal anothers registered name in chat, but I think we need some help here Jeff? |
I have the same issue as David. I have Win98 IE6.
|
I am kicking this back to the top because I still can't access the chat area. :(
This is the first screen: IRC Chat Welcome to IRC chat, Unregistered! Welcome to the Off Shore Only Members Chat Room! Please be courteous to others, patient and kind, not only in this chat but everywhere. Anyone who abuses this feature will be banned from using it! And on a lighter note: ENJOY! ENTER CHAT I click on ENTER CHAT and get this screen: IRC Chat You are not registered or not logged in! To register please see the register link in the main window. To login please fill in your username and password in the main window. I do not see anywhere to log in or register for chat. I am showed as being loged on and can view and post in the discussion boards. Internet explorer 6 / Windows ME |
