new to jacksonville
I'm moving to Jacksonville, probably won't be there for the Poker Run, but was wondering who lives there so I can introduce myself. Also, any good yards to keep the boat?
Thanks. Randy |
Welcome to town! I'm sure you will hear from some of the other guys in Jax. Which part of town are you going to be living in? That will determine near by Marina's or ramps.
We also have a performance boat club in town with about 30 members. It's a good way to find some boaters to hang out with. David |

Out towards the beach is Beach Marine. I live in the Mandarin area and am not terribley familiar with the Beach side of town. Maybe some of the other folks from Jax can chime in on other Marinas.
There are a number of ramps in the area. This link will show you where most of the Jax ramps are. http://www.streport.com/files/featur...Boat_Ramps.htm The boat club meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the Mandarin area. PM me when the date get's closer and I can get you more information. David |
Thanks, that's useful.

Boat looked great last weekend Randy.

Why does the local boat club seem like a mystery? Got a web site?
I live near Daytona and would love to come up and hang out also:party-smiley-004: |
welcome to town Randy. My company moved me here about a year ago. I'm just looking for houses now. Once I'm moved in, down comes my boat. I moved from NJ. Can't believe how much more boating there is down here.
|
Thanks Chris, was that your Powerplay? I waved but didnt think it was you.

The boat club has about 35 members. Pretty informal. No website. Club communication is usually handled via email or at our monthly meeting. Let me know what else you want to know! David |

Do you know if they are getting together any time over the 4th of July weekend
|
There are no club events planned for the 4th of July. I'm sure there will be club members on the water. If I hear of any specifics I'll let you know.
|
is this dave that hangs out with tom with the 33 donzi
|
Tom's a club member. I've certainly been out on the water with him in the past:cool-smiley-011:

welcome to Jax, I live out at the beach as well. Was one of the origonal Club members but haven't done too much with them since I moved back from living in Hawaii for a couple of years. Palm Cove is good. I am getting sent up North for work for awhile and putting my boat into storage at Atlantic Self Storage. They have a new facility with huge garages. The one I am renting is 14 x 50 for 250/mo. Gonna keep the boat and a car. Just an option you may want to look at for the winter months. They have smaller garages as well. The garages also have electricity included so you can run a battery tender. Anyway give me a call 904-318-1088. I live on 6th ave south just a few block away from some of the good bars. Also my house is for sale so maybe you will love it.

You should all do yourself a favor and stop in at the restaurant we just did in Jax. It's on Southside Blvd, just north of Butler, directly across the drive from Hooter's. It's called Wild Wings Cafe.
Here's a picture of some of the help, during the grand opening a couple weeks ago.:cool-smiley-011: |
Randy and Jason,
I'll give you both a call this weekend. David |

Randy,
Liquidcolors is correct. The boat club is having a raft off at the Bayard Point sand bar on Saturday (weather permitting) beginning around noon. Feel free to drop by if you are running in the river. I've heard from 4-5 boats already that plan on showing up. David |
What is the best ramp near there to the south of there .. I am in Orange City
|
you could put in palaka head north about 20 min. ride at cruising 45-50mph.
