Default HTM Speed

Hey Mike,

What's up, just 89 with almost 700HP??? Look at Dave M's speed with that Vbottom Superboat with less than 400HP. If he had your motor, he would be well over 90!

No slam, mind you, just asking, maybe it's the weight...or sponson design?
Good question. Remember a few things. My almost 700 hp was 683 @ 5684 @ the crank (motor). I am turning the motor about 5400 r's. That is 669 @ the crank. So prop hp is about 634. 700 - 634 = 66 hp / 15 = 4.4 mph. This 89.7 + 4.4 = 94. Still a long way to 100 mph. Also consider the cabin weight. Some what more than a AO or Elim. The extra weight is in the nose. My boat weighs about 4700 lbs. wet. The dyno room is not like the engine bay. More heat and humidity.
My buddy's HTM SS w/385 hp is running 73 on GPS. He also has more nose weight than most cats. Seems like their should be more speed. When you start looking at the differences??? I'm not too worried about it. I bought the HTM cause I wanted a cat and also wanted to sleep in it every weekend for 6 months out of the year. This boat is an easy 10 mph faster than my old v hull I had and it had more hp.
