Default Smarty's Father

OSO,

My father has loved this site since its inception. He is suffering from cancer now, and is now in hospice (at home with my mother, I am home to help during this time). For the first time in my life I will not be boating with my father on Sunday afternoons. Boating on Sundays was a father and son tradition. I have a picture below taken in 1968 (I was three years old) of my father and me in his Carlson Challenger (looking for a race probably), and a picture taken last year of me and my father in the Phantom on the C&D Canal.

I may be asking for help in the near future putting the Phantom back together. He just had bought a set of 540 cu.in Dart Short blocks, and we were expecting to be on the water this summer, debugging and dialing in the new power, but that will not be happening.

Please keep my father and my family in your prayers, ---- if you did not know my father here are a couple of the boats he has owned. He owned the Magnum for 18/19 years, you may not have personally had known my father, but if you boated on The Delaware River, northern Chesapeake/C&D Canal, and the Jersey shore, you probably saw us pass by, or roll up along side of you. He would race anybody that would give him a shot (a race). He is the reason why I love, think, and dream about offshore powerboats!

Stephen

I remember seeing that magnum. It was beautiful.

God bless your dad - hopefully they are giving him some meds to rest easy.

Dave,

Yeah, he is in alot of pain, the hospice nurse came today; it is time to upgrade his pain medication. Thank you thinking of him.

My father had wanted to go to one of your Poker Runs, but never did pull that trigger, I wish he had.

Thanks for thinking of him.

Stephen

Here is his other favorite boat, and his other favorite boating passengers - his grandchildren in the 15' Boston Whaler. Out with Grandpop looking to race another Whaler.....he had his Whaler dialed in pretty good!
