Those tabs MIGHT be Eddie Marine, but would have to check for sure. If anyone is looking for a really nice ski race boat, there is one over on Performance for only $130,000. Its an '06 Schiada with about a 1500 hp Brummett turbo motor and 2 speed automatic. In marathon as well as circle racing these kind of boats are spectacular. Most ski racing is done on the west coast, Australia . New Zeland, South Africa and some European countries. On July 19 is the Catalina Ski Race, but the rules for this race allow 40+ footers where there will be a lot of great offshore race boats used.
The last I read about the price of a Merc 1075/6 drive was about $155,000. retail... |
That deal is sweet. Now that would have the wow factor in my neck of the woods

The tabs are great because of the unique design, what I see is that they are mounted up higher, not almost level with the bottom. So when they are lowered, they are intended to only touch at the tips for a real soft touch, but out father back. So to make them not scrub, they have the little curve on them.
Fantastic idea. |

I have no experience with ski racing, but their challanges seem quite apparent. First going 110mph with a short vee is awesome, then drag two guys on skis behind you from a poll mounted up hight to give lots of mechanical advantage to try to pull the bow into the air (flip over).
At 110mph it would take a very effort for the water to create enough pressure to hold the bow down with the tabs, at the same time they have reduced the unnessary drag of using the whole tab by just touching the tips. So in a situation, (Rough, like 2 to 3 inches for the skiers), the tabs would almost create the illusion of a longer boat? Today 06:43 AM |
