Very cool work,.........Attached is original pictures of this red boat being transformed into the following pictures. I had saw this boat for sale several years ago and then never new where it had went. Now we know what is happening to it :D:D

But none the less a fine example of Vision, and talent coming to reality.

This picture here is not from this Cougar, but the standard that the majority of the Cougars had for a sundeck.
Lowered down in same as this cougar was............

You can see in these next pictures the work they went through to make new hatches and eliminate that particular look.

The 1st time I saw that boat on Lake Lanier I tried to run him in a 28 cat w/ a 600 sc. That Cougar walked me like a dog!

I love that people are still building beast's like this. Are these current pictures? Can't wait to see the finished product. Some serious money going into this one!

This picture is not from this boat, but again pretty much the dash that most cougars had from the day.

Next they cut all the old dash out and this is the new replacement.

I bet that dash set him back at least several hundred bucks!

Now I'm going to have to eat my words about the old, dated Cougar 46. That engine hatch really changed the boat.

impressive...are they really that fast? 3 x 1075's I understand it could be fast, but generally speaking? I thought they were made for rough stuff instead of speed...

He will be into the triple digits :D:D

When I bought mine they told me it's a slug till you exceed 70mph, then once she free's up..........Hang on. Getting closer on my own so I can give you some real world info :D

Jon

Chris Sunkin 03-18-2008 06:46 AM

Mine had 3 850's and would nudge 80 with light fuel and a slight chop. Poor choice for a lake boat- excellent choice if the water you boat on gets sloppy. You can run full speed in 4's and 5's and never have to touch the throttles.

George Morales did quite well in one against Copelan's Popeyes. So well that Al used the 46 for the Miami-NY race. Until the 47 Apache the Cougar was king.

Awesome Resto project... Jon looks like you still have yours. How is it progressing? Can you update us with some pics?

Tell him about the June race to Bimini and back.....that boat was made for that type of run.

Run_em_hard 03-18-2008 03:14 PM

That is beautiful...one of the best looking boats, period.

littlenige 03-19-2008 03:18 AM

What a great example of how a relatively 'old' looking boat can be brought bang up to date - boat looks awesome.

JnT 03-20-2008 05:23 PM

Joker,
Is this the guy on Allatoona that has a couple of Apaches too?
Jim

waterboy222 03-20-2008 05:35 PM

Jim:

He lives on Lanier , not the same guy. Very nice guy and he loves his exotic boats. I'm now officially his groupie and I've been invited to see the initial run , can't wait.

Mike @ Adrenaline is helping me out big time on some tooling and their rigging , tooling and paint work is second to none , seriously!

Not sure, but I was hoping they get a dry weight off it, with it off the trailer before they launch this Big dog. :D:D

Be nice to know, and if the shaved any weight off it with all there changes.

Anybody remember "Totally AWESOME "Another great COUGAR ,owned by Elliot Sutton . In 1986 we got her from England and it was a blast .We raced her in 1988-thru 1991 and then kept it as a pleasure boat for while.
Finally in 1997 just after we restored the boat ,New paint ,new upholstery etc...i was testing the boat and it caught on fire and burned to the waterline !
The end of a great boat !

aex 03-22-2008 06:48 PM

Your Cougar has character . I do appreciate the soft , rounded " modern " look , but when I see this hull there is no mistake , it's a Cougar .
Beautiful job . Your boat will be the star at any poker run .
