No chit! First year I had buddy's ride all day and drink out of my cooler. Weeded threw those guys real quick, too many friends that will help rather than mooch. Ins, for the year payment and upkeep, $100 just too pull to the lake and back. It's nice when they offer too help. Sometimes it means whether I go the next weekend or not.:drink:

Velocity Tom 07-18-2008 06:14 PM

Noboudy ever kicks in for gass!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomarow is my b day and I get to fill the tank again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

live wire 07-18-2008 06:18 PM

I usually pay for the gas but expect food & drinks on my guests. I feel a little uncomfortable asking people I invited for money for gas.

Velocity Tom 07-18-2008 06:20 PM

$3.99 per gallon is Cheap compared to California prices.we are paying $4.50+ at the pump for cars-- the marinas are even higher!!!!

3.99 a gal, dude I am all over that. I paid 4.56 for 91 oct for the Vett yesterday. I don't want to even think about filling the boat next week.

What you should have done was charged you freinds 3.00 a gallon while you were emptying the boat, they would have got a deal and you could have offset the costs on the re-fill.

Velocity Tom 07-19-2008 10:30 AM

Just put in $600. I not shure if ill make that far south to Sanibel. But thank you verry much for the offer.

berns29scarab 07-19-2008 11:19 AM

dont fill it !! why store fuel for the arabs ? buy it as you need it...and as far as freeloaders i know whatcha mean. i've repeatedly left couple $20's or a $50 in different friends cupholders and gotten the call...Hey did you forget $$ in my boat...no not at all DIDNT FORGET A THING then they yell at me...

LubeJobs42 07-19-2008 11:26 AM

You guys think you're taking it up the a$$??
I run C16 in the Benz boat. I am on VP's lowest price level. I have been paying $10.78 per gallon for the last 18 months. The price has not gone up with the price of regular fuel. I was actually able to start justifying the price of $10.78 since others are paying $5.00 at the dock for 93. I was informed this week C16 is finally going up. It is going to end up around $14.70 per gallon!!!! The boat is set up with a dual mode ecu. I can run the boat at 1200 HP using 93 octane or at 1550 with C16. We did some calculations. At cruise speed with the ECU set at 1550 it burns 2 1/2 Gallons per mile. That is not 2 1/2 miles per gallon either!!!!

I wish I had your problems.

DonziChick 07-19-2008 06:25 PM

I posted this on another thread, but Il post it again.

I have a simple rule. If I invite you on my boat then you arent paying for fuel or dockage. This is normally a back and forth deal between my other boating friends along with a few other non boating friends who are always there when I need them.

Then there are the friends who invite themselves, these are the acquaintances that I would normally never invite to go boating. I have no problem pulling into a gas station and telling them to pay up or we go home.

Obviously you have a single eng. boat and dont go far from port!

It bugs me when jealous folks take cheap shots. Its like the bullchit "I wouldn't have that house/boat/car even if I had the money". Inside, I think that we would all like to. Knowing the cost of running such a boat makes me appreciate them that much more.

Are you bringing it up to the Shootout this year? We went to the Bristol night race last year, so we missed seeing your boat. I know that circumstances did not allow you to come up, but maybe this year!

It's no biggie.
I was simply making the point that race fuel price does not fluctuate with gas prices which surprised me. A $4.00 per gallon jump is ridiculous.
I thought the shootout was cancelled, I just read yesterday that it is in. I will check into it tomorrow but I'm 99% sure i will be there. (regardless of gas prices!):D

So if you're cruising at 125mph, it only costs you $4593.75 at the new price to go that 125 miles. Hope the Casino is doing well.:D What is it at WOT? (Probably don't want to know).

FormulaFan 07-20-2008 08:17 AM

I took a group of friends out on my boat Yesterday. They showed up with beer, ice, food, etc..... Then at the end of the day 1 of them tried to give me a $100 bill.... I told him thanks for the offer, but keep it. He then REFUSED twice to take it back, said I could give it to Charity, throw it away or whatever, but he was NOT taking it back! So I thought why not, and put it in my pocket. The day cost me about $400 for fuel, but the $100 was really a nice gesture...HE WILL BE INVITED BACK!.......
