check the rental contract, when I had the pickup in the body shop this winter I rented a truck to go snomobling and I made the comment to the girl at Enterprise I needed a truck with a hitch and she said the rental contract doesn't allow for towing. Obviously if you have no issues no ones really going to know but if you do it can be a real PIA. Ended up using the wifes Suburban to tow just in case since the damage to my truck had been caused by the sled trailer jacknifing.

I think that the towing is ONLY to tow their trailers. In other words if you rent their box truck you can tow their car hauler for example. I am not aware of any of them that will allow you to tow your own trailer.

U-Haul is the only company that will allow you to tow anything besides company trailers. Done this several times and worked out well. I would suggest a diesel for the durabilty when you encounter the hills. As mentioned you need to find a welder for obvious reasons.
