I agree that the tracks are designed for the smaller cats & vee's to have a chance to race, AND be seen by the spectators. However, the big cats & vee's will go as far as you want in a straight line, in any water, with the cats leading the pack.

I've been lucky to have ridden/driven in the biggest, baddest cats, as well as the biggest, baddest vee bottoms over the years, & the cats are considerably faster & more stable than the vee's in every condition.

I like that idea. Where is there water that is consistently 5 ft or more? New Jersey? Lake Michigan?

Wouldn't that be some great offshore race! The water size in Atlantic City 2010 would be perfect! Apache Heritage with some modern Mercury Racing 1350's & M8 drives (Richie Powers & the original crew would be the best!) A 46 race Skater with the same power ( Jim "Freedom US1" & crew would be the best choice!) And of course Fabio Buzzi in his diesel monster! Now that's real Offshore Racing with the top guys!.....

There has to be some footage of the cats and vees racing together in rough water. At some point, someone has to pass something. How about the Miami to Bimini race? That can usually provide some entertainment.

But in reality, with extremely rough conditions, it has to be about the crew. (and the punishment they are willing to endure) There's a huge difference between running fast in rougher water, and running "Comfortably" in it. Being the best rough water boat doesn't equate to being the fastest from point A to point B.

Yes I have. Cougars though.. not the more modern Skater. Although, in the cougars we stood. I would love to see you guys run some of the courses we ran in the 80's. You and I both know it's not going to happen.
