That does seem rediculous. Those excavators are now going to have saltwater all over their tracks and internals- doesn't seem like the smartest way to do it.

looks like they were just trying to make the motor swap a bit easier. get some of that pesky fiberglass out of the way.

there is no way that is in the us epa would never allow the boat to be removed that way , there is nothing to control debris floating in to the ocean ect , seems to me that where ever they are they did not have anything to pull the boat out of the sand , and it looks as though it was in pretty deep , for the location maybe the excavators were the only way to go , as far as the excavators , they can flush those tracks out and if the machines were rented or leased they sure as hell did not care about a little salt water getting on them

I saw this 100'+ commercial fishing boat being towed off an Alaskan beach on the Discovery Channel. They were pulling on it from several hundred feet away. The boat they were using could've pulled that tint thing off without getting the towline taut.

They were doing just as suggested- dug around it, then waited for high tide on the full moon. Maybe that cruiser had the entire bottom torn out and had no possibility of being floated once free.

My guess, that's how they removed the engines.

Just what I thought ... Between that and the broken glass etc , I don't think I'd want to walk on that stretch of beach without good footwear. for a very long time.
