Sweet! Thanks for the update. Looking forward to a performance report.

Ray, any idea on hours between rebuilds, or is it too early to know? Thanks.

Digital throttle and shifter?????? I'm unfamiliar with this new concept, please tell us more.

Thats got to be the worst color scheme I've ever seen on an engine, sorry.

Wink

The Raylar LSM550 has an electronically controlled thottlebody as all the new release engines do, the only difference is that your throttle cables attach to a contol actuator on our engine instead of attaching to the throttlebody itself. These new electronically controlled throttle bodies eliminate the old idle air controllers that have been some problems for performance boaters and the idle control is much quicker and and smoother, especially when coming on idle or going in and out of gear when manuvering.
As for shifting, the Raylar LSM550 will work with any standard Bravo or industry drive shifter and it has the ability to integrate into any electronic shift control system with our "smart guard" ECM contoller capabilities. The electronic ECM on this engine is even more capable than Mercury's PCM555. Can I interest anybody in electronic cruise control with GPS interface. See what I mean its designed with the future in mind!

As for color choices, the motor was shipped with Mirror candy blue and silver. What our customers do from there on is their choice not ours. One mans palace is anothers mans garage!

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Smile Hours on the Raylar LSM550?

Sorry for the delayed answer about engine hours on the LSM550. We obviously don't have real long hour results yet on this new engine, but my professional knowledge and opinion on the operating hours, based on how well these LSM550's are built and the quality of the parts used tells me that a boater should see somewhere between 500 and 750 hours before any overhaul should be required, possibly longer depending on use. Most likely at that point I would also think that a new set of rings and bearings, an oil pump, a valve job on the heads with new springs and maybe a new set of roller lifters and rockers might be all thats required for an overhaul. We warranty the engine now for 1 year and with more history we may extend that warranty to two years. Its going to be a wonderfully reliable power plant.
