Many of those boats were anchored in the cove bow out with a stern line to the shore. Anchors broke free and ended up crunching the ones on the beach. The water went from glass to 4ft swells in minutes. Heard there were a few injuries. One guy had to be taken away by EMS when the boat he was holding came down in a trough and his foot got caught between the outdrive skeg and the bottom.

Glad I wasn't out there wrangling boats with the only light coming from lightning strikes:eek:

Still can't figure out why everyone beaches their boats that way out here. It would be much easier to get on/off bow out with anchors off the bow and stern. Probably would have prevented a lot of damage in this senario, too.

When the storms kick up we always go run instead of parking in Havasu, they never last more than 3-4 hours anyhow.....
