physics 101, apply enough force, something will move or break...

Chris Sunkin 09-30-2008 07:31 PM

Bruin- you're way too charitable. Rob literally needed to have a near-death experience before he became motivated enough to fix this. The upside... one more scumbag outed.

BryanTuvell 09-30-2008 07:33 PM

I just re-read the inital thread but not all 13 pages.... if Navy Legal fails you, go to your ISIC JAG for action, I am on a Carrier Strike Group staff for a two star, if your Navy your ISIC is someone that can help.... and our JAG is not that busy... trust me...
Feel free to call me, PM me and I will see if I can help.

Good news: I just got off of the phone with Region's Bank and they told me that the check has cleared, the loan is paid in full, and they sent the paperwork off to the Coast Guard (anyone have an idea how long it should take the CG to release the lien?).

Bad news: I finally found out the entire (I hope there isn't more) truth to this. Apparently when I bought the boat for 37K he owed 45K on it. No big deal. However, he did not have the 8K to pay the difference so he just put my money into his account and was basically living off of and paying the payments with my money. He refinanced his house to pay my boat off but I wasn't going to wait for another excuse of why the boat wasn't paid off yet so he was able to get a loan from his parents to pay off the boat while he waits for his refinance money. Also, the 4K, 5K pay off numbers he was giving me were BS. He owed $36,812 to clear the title!!!! WOW!!!

Hopefully I will OFFICIALLY own my boat in the very near future. Please, if you are looking at boats, cars, etc. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again for all of the help.

Holy crap! what a douche bag...
BTW- I'm glad you have this resolved..

US1 Fountain 10-08-2008 04:26 PM

That explains why he got pizzed off when a couple of us Fountain owners commented that his original asking price was too high. I think it was in themid to high 40's. He was hoping to get payoff.

Now, enjoy YOUR boat!

Downtown42 10-09-2008 08:40 AM

how the fk did he get into the Skater if he's living off a shoe-lace :grinser010:

Chris Sunkin 10-09-2008 09:13 AM

You have no clue how lucky you got on this. This douchebag was heading straight into a bust-out on your dough.

Chris Sunkin 10-09-2008 09:16 AM

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot...

To all of his friends that posted about what a good guy he was and how he'll take care of this- there's your pal for you.

phragle 10-09-2008 09:25 AM

as suspected, his fun filled performance boating summer was financed on your dime.

For the record, i never said i didnt think he spent the money, or he may have done some really stupid things etc...... i just figured he would take care of it, and in the back of my head i knew his parents had loot too and i figured he'd have them bail him out if need be....... im glad he took care of it but man was he an idiot for the last 5 months......

Always get the title, check the hull i.d.and call the tax office and make sure it's real.

Xchoke03 10-09-2008 10:54 AM

Its great you heard from the bank themselves that all was OK but it ain't over till the title is in your posession.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your new boat.
I tell you it is bad when anybody gets screwed but I tell you when somebody takes advantage of a guy in the military that literally lays it on the line for the love of our country it REALLY really sucks.

Please let us know when it is finally put to bed !!!
