I'm 38 never been married so dont take this advice as I've never been to the dark side... J/K... But I have to agree with Chris it sounds like you have a nice life, reading your profile (?) congrats by the way, dont buy her a card, make her one, cut flowers instead of buying them, do as much as "you" can for her without spending any of the money or as little as possible, then put the change in the envelope and tell her you spent exactley what she told you to do/spend!!
I should take some of my own advice.......
Good Luck, Pat

You wanna make her happy? Take the $20 bucks and make her something. It could be as stupid as a posterboard sized card and candy to something difficult like a bird house or a swing for the backyard.
You think she let you off easy with the $20... She is testing you. Don't screw this up!

When they say $20.00 they mean $200.00. My wife told me she wanted nothing for her birthday once. I asked multiple times if she was sure, yes was her answer. So........thats what she got. Big mistake. Go with your Gut on this one. If you normally spend more than $20.00, I would continue that. Easier to justify that position as past practice. You know her better than us.
