Bad day on the way to the river…..

I was on my way to the river for a Sunday afternoon cruse as I was rounding a curve there was a car in my lane coming head on at me, there was nothing I could to avoiding hitting the car. The impact sent my truck in the air and sliding down the road. My boat trailer then hit the car. The boat came off and stopped on side of my truck.

Good news is no one is my truck was hurt.

My feelings to out to the guy in the cars family he was not as lucky.

My boat was not hurt, just a few nicks that can be wiped off. My trailer is gone I ordered a new one today.

What a ride…….

Someone put this on this on youtube.....

Man, I was wondering if you were going to post. I got there shortly after you left. Scared the crap out of me when I realized it was your boat. Glad you and Robin are all right. One of the locals sat in a lawn chair and video'd the whole thing, figured it was going to show up on you tube soon. Let me know if you need anything.

t500hps 09-29-2008 02:50 PM

Dogghouse,

Glad you and the boat are ok but you probably should delete this thread until the "mess" is sorted out. Lots of assumptions could be made by an opposing attorney based on things posted here. I would only want official/ under oath statements admitted into the case, not OSO posts.......

Thank you for your concern. Its real cut and dry what happened. There were 10 to 15 people outside that saw everything. They have already giving there written statements and I’m 100% not at fault according to the state police. I had my attorneys on site right after it went down just to make sure no questions were brought up. But like I said there was nothing I could do.

Pit 09-29-2008 05:30 PM

That looks like a show stopper... Glad to hear you are OK. Is your truck a chevy 2500?

c_deezy 09-30-2008 01:50 AM

Wow can't believe the boat stayed on the trailer! Good to hear you are ok, and hopefully the other dude pulls through even tho it sounds like he was driving like an idiot.

Indy 09-30-2008 06:58 AM

Glad you are ok.

Tom A. 09-30-2008 09:40 AM

First off, glad you are ok. That looks like it was a violent hit!
Secondly, congratulations for having the boat so well secured that it stayed on the trailer. It could have been alot worse if the boat broke free!

Not sure if we will ever know.

Thanks everyone....

Croozin2 09-30-2008 09:40 AM

DAMN NATE!!!! I'm off the site for a couple days and you go and wipe out your truck!!! I've had that same thing happen before but towing a smaller boat and I had a little bit of a shoulder to get off the road. You never mentioned whether the other driver was intoxicated or just preoccupied. Either way, I'm glad to hear you two are OK and hope the guy had some/any insurance.

Sydwayz 09-30-2008 09:49 AM

WOW, glad you are OK. That could have been a lot worse. Good luck in getting everything sorted out sooner than later.

Thanks Don.

Yeah Im ready for 08 to be over! first I total my Vette now this...... Man I hope it stops soon.

I should find out everything tomorrow. We still dont know what the guy was doing in the other car, or if he was intoxicated. He was only 17 in his dads car....... I hope he pulls out of it.

shw-n-go h20 09-30-2008 10:41 AM

WOW. glad you and yours are ok.. i would get the boat on a sling to look for hull damage. hope everything works out for you.

10x 09-30-2008 02:38 PM

WOW !!! What a mess. Glad to hear you and your passengers are OK. The guy videoing said that the boat just came from Illinois. Did you just buy it at the beginning of the summer from a guy in the Morris Ill area?? If so, I think I know the original owner of that boat.

Frank

showtime83 09-30-2008 08:29 PM

if its the 36 that was at grand sport center, i looked at it, nice boat

happy hours 09-30-2008 09:04 PM

wow, I cant believe the boat stayed on the trailer thru all that. Man if that does not make people use transom straps I dunno what will. I am glad you are OK and the trailer / truck replacement is easy , just mechanical things. I hope the kid pulls thru, I think we all have been 17 and done stupid things in automobiles, I know I did more then my fair share back then. Please keep us posted.

Sydwayz 10-01-2008 08:14 AM

Edited: incorrect assumption on my part.

dogghouse 10-01-2008 10:45 AM

As of now guy is still alive…… Still not sure if he is gonna make it or not.

It turns out he is an illegal alien that had a blood alcohol level of 3.0 driving his uncles car with out insurance!

That’s some f’in luck!

See post 22.
Not just about the boat either. If it wasn't secured it could have run right up into the cab of the truck seriously injuring anyone in its path.

I hope he pulls through and is forced to work to pay off your truck, trailer, and any thing wrong with the boat or yourself. Forced as in chained up so he cant run away.

hitman 10-01-2008 11:12 AM

You will be lucky if HE doesnt sue you for being in his way! That is the way it works here in AZ...

txriverrat2001 10-01-2008 11:19 AM

Damn - Glad to hear you're OK.

Yeah no ****.......

dogghouse 10-01-2008 11:26 AM

I have to give all credit to the trailer; I guess......The boat did not have transom straps on it.

I will from now on that’s for sure.

Dean Ferry 10-01-2008 11:45 AM

Glad to hear you and your wife are OK. I just sucks that the guy that hit you is an illegal alien, a drunk, and has NO insurance!
Hope things work out for ya.
Dean

I wasn't going to be the one to tell on you. :D Me and Bobby were standing there looking at how far the boat slid up and talking about how we only strap them down for long trips. I'll be putting straps on mine every time from here on out.

Wanted to ask, what props are you running on there?
