Thanks.
I have practically begged this guy not to start cutting on the boat. He wants to turn it into a 30 Scarab- two little bolsters and a full cabin. I hate to see one more historic race boat turned into a dy cruiser.
Some day (hopefully soon) people will be regretting allowing some of these cool old boats to get away.

Hey Chris I did not know you had a 30 Velocity. I had the one Malestrom built as a Gene Whipps raceboat under regal. It was Kevlar expoxy and too light for it own good. It is now a single engine open fish it goes 70 with a single vortec. I put the changes Still Crazy had in the bottom. After that you could almost pass another boat!

Yeah, I've had one of just about everything. Of all of them, that boat was the one that required the most amount of driving. But in equal size & power, nothing could keep up with it- and it was far from a lightweight. If you popped off the deck, you could fit a 28 Cig inside of it.

There are lots of these kinds of boats out there. I can't help but believe that in the not-so-distant future we start to see some vintage runs and gatherings. I'ver seen many people walk blindly past a $600K Cigarette to see an old raceboat. Could you imagine a marina full of them?
