How fast could these boats have been going? And they couldn't aviod each other? Geez...they say powerboats are dangerous! If you are the "skipper" of the smaller vessel...I don't care if you are the "stand-down" or "stand-by" or whatever...would YOU take the chance of not only hitting that thing, but having it run you the f$%# over???

It looks like they turned into the wind intending to gybe and reverse course. The bulk of the Falcon took the wind off their sails and then they lost speed and steering. Rookie mistake. Not enough time to fire up the engine.

It's actually "stand-on", if you read Chapmans.

But the rules get complicated if it involves 2 salebotes. Sometimes it has to do with who is upwind, but that might only be in racing....

Regardless, taking the necessary action to avoid a collision takes priority over right-of-way.

You are correct If I recall, you have a stand-on and a give-way vessel when they are similar sized, however you must give way to a fishing boat and a large vessel with reduced maneuverability

Fake as hell! Unless the wind was blowing in different directions for each boat. Look at the sails. Also look at the american flag on the bow of the big boat and then the flags on top of its masts.:Whatever:
