Wow, what took me so long to find this thread?
My prayers out to both families. Pat and I share the same last name, and a good customer of mine sponsered Pats race boat. I'm deeply saddened by this. |
Bill and Mike Thank You for the updates. Give Bobby our best and let him know where are thinking of him.

Joes (scandelous) stepdaughter here
My brother just left the hospital where he saw Bobby's sister, he was just taken into surgery. For some reason it was post poned at the last minute last night. Joe and my husband Rob are headed to over to Solomons right now and then possibly to the hospital. I will up-date you when I hear from them. Be strong Bobby! |
Very sad chain of events... keep the focus and energy on those things that matter and on the power of prayer. Godspeed to all the families and friends involved.

Joe and Rob are on their way to visit Bobby. Joe will up-date you all later on this evening.

Update:
As promissed, the DNR had made it to the site Thursday morning. Unformtunatly, using the side view sonar, the original "area of interst" has moved. Remember, this is a full 36 hours later from their previous sighting. Furtrations are running high. There were 3 DNR boats, 2 coast guard auxillary boats and approximently 15 friends and citizen boats. There were no sighting of Pat. Please, do not use this thread for rummers. I am doing my best to present the facts in this unfortunate situation. Last night Bobby had surgery to insert a stent into his kidney. The fear was that he was still bleeding internally. The fact is it was not bleeding but urine was in his spline. The surgery was a success and he slowly retuning to the Bobby we all remember. Rob and I left the hospital last night at the 9:00 pm. The DNR investigator, after numerous requests, had informed me, that they may allow me the oppertunity to "pickle" the engines on the boat on Monday. I have contacted Jason Moffit (Bobby's boss at Newberg Marine and previous owner of the boat), to assit, me in this. This morning, it's colder in the low 60's and light rain. I am leaving the dock now in the continuing search for our brother. Thank you again Augie, Allen, MIke, Bill and Pattie, and the rest of the OPA and Friends, for you support. |
It took 21 days to find our frined Martin Spradlin 2 years ago in the middle of winter.
Hang in there and be strong, you will find Pat soon. God Bless. |
Prayers and condolences to the family and friends of these fellow boaters.
Best Regards, Rayv@ Raylar |
Pat and Bobby have both been in our thoughts and prayers since this happened. I know how sad .... devastated ...... helpless .... those of us on the outside feel. I cant imagine what you guys that were the closest to Pat are feeling. We all have our own memories ... Pat stories ... I wonder if he had any idea how many lives he touched.... how many people miss him .....
Thank you Guys and Gals for the updates. God Bless you for your efforts ....... |
Update:
I have just gotten word from Bobby's sister that Bobby is being moved from ICU into a privet room within the next few hours. I'm sure everyone, wants to be able to talk with him, but please try and limit your calls to just a couple brief words. Hes is still very week and in a lot of pain. Thank you again Joe. |
Update on Bobby:
His surgery went well and the nurse said he did very well last night. He is currently moving from ICU to a standard bed on the 8th floor. Visiting hours will now be from 9am to 8pm. Room #811. -Chris |
Just left the hospital, obviously bobby is very tired as they keep checking on him. He is starting to get a little better at breathing although his side hurts...We got to kid around for a few minutes, he seems to enjoy the catheter, and said it would be a good thing for long term drinking, :D so his sense of humor is fine, but it hurts him to laugh. He asked me to let eeryone know, thanks for all the thoughts and donations.
He gave the thumbs up and hopes to see everyone soon... http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...illin/sign.jpg |
Great news. Get well soon!!
|
Thanks for the updates, it's great to see that Bobby's sense of humor is intact.
I hope that Pat's family can soon have the closure they need. They are in my thoughts and prayers. |

Thank's for the update, I had a chance to meet Pat briefly at the Long Island race, I remember his big smile as he was pushing off the dock for his race. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his and Bobby's family and friends.

Update:
Augie, I think you scared the pee out of Bobby when I told him what you said last night. That's why they moved him to a new room this afternoon. Raining steady now, the search for our brother Pat will continue in the morning. Today, Two DNR boats for half a day, two Coast Guard auxilliary boats for half a day, 10 to 15 friends boats all day and 4 DNR patrol cars chatting all day to each other. We will never forget our brother. God Bless, the family's. |
Real sorry to hear this news. Bobby, glad you're doing well and winking at the nurses I'm sure.
My deepest condolences to the Reiter family. I'm speechless. I hope they find Pat soon. |
UPDATE:
We Found our Brother! PAT IS ON SHORE. Debbie and the boys are well. Thank all who has given so much. I can not express my feelings. I am crying as I write this. Tears of sorrow and tears of, in a way joy. I don't know what else to say. I need to finish the writing at a later time. |
I just got the call from Mike and Ted as well...Everyone take a moment and please think of the Reiter family,.
This reminds of something someone said to me when my mom passed away " In Time when we think of a loved one, we will not cry as often, but when we do we will cry just as hard" to the Reiter family, may he rest in peace. |
Thank God he was found. May his family find closure in that and be able to slowly move on.
|
Rest in Peace
|
RIP..............................................I 'm speechless
|
It is great news, to hear that Pat Reiter has been found and can finally be put to rest and give his family and friends some closure on this tragedy. RIP

Friday October 17th: We Have Pat Back.
After searching all day, the Patuxent River finally gave us Pat back. Tim Kiser, the fisherman that aided in rescuing the victims on Sunday, found Pat Reiter at around 7:30 pm about 400 yards from the original accident. A second boat consisting of , Mike Murray, Ann and Jimmy Raider and myself joined Tim shortly there after. Daren and Jimmy were the third boat there. This puts closure to the recovery of Pat Reiter for all of us. Please visit the web site www.reiterracing553.com for more updates United We Race Marcelo (Crew Chief 553, Friend) |

My thoughts and prayers are with the Reiter family as well. :(:( . . . . . . . . . . We dont claim to have answers about death or life after death for that matter. He is here even though not. I know in my heart he is only gone from our sight. Someday we will meet again and the waiting will be over.....We stand at the shore and wave goodbye as we mourn him leaving. We cannot see the distant shore and the love ones awaiting his arrival at his new destination...... While we are grieving our loss, they wave and shout with glee as they anticipate his arrival. It is his new adventure. God bless Pat and rip always. |
how amazing that the fisherman that helped with the rescue should be the one to find Pat, I assume he was helping search. When the chips are down boaters all share a bond no matter what type of boating one prefers.
My heart breaks that we have lost another one, Pat may you rest in peace, Bobby best wishes for a full recovey, and to the family and friends of Pat may you find comfort in each other during this time of such grief. |

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Reiter family and friends during this very difficult time. While we never have met Pat, it is clearly evident how many lives he touched. God Bless you Reiter family. Rob & Barb |

|
I want to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to all involved and for everyone's support
R.I.P Pat |
My thoughts and prayers are with Pat's family as they are able to have a measure of closure to this tragic time in their lives. My deepest sympathies to the Reiter's. My Pat rest in peace.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped in this search. Boaters ARE boaters, no matter what kind, in times of need. |
Deb and families really appreciates all the supporting comments, thoughts and wishes you have all posted here. This makes her realize how many lives Pat has touched and influenced and also comes to realize how tight the boating family actually is.
I will keep the web site updated http://www.reiterracing553.com regarding funeral arrangements and other updates. Marcelo (Crew Chief 553, Friend). |
I never met Pat.. But all my condolences to the Reiter family.
I have a huge lump in my throat knowing that another boating brother has passed to the perfect seas above. |
