We dont claim to have answers about death or life after death for that matter. He is here even though not. I know in my heart he is only gone from our sight. Someday we will meet again and the waiting will be over.....We stand at the shore and wave goodbye as we mourn him leaving. We cannot see the distant shore and the love ones awaiting his arrival at his new destination...... While we are grieving our loss, they wave and shout with glee as they anticipate his arrival. It is his new adventure. God bless Pat and rip always.

Thoughts and prayers to the Reiter family.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Pat, but it's clear that he touched many lives. His contributions to life, family, friends and boating are what defined the man and the brotherhood to which he belonged. To those left behind, may you cherish your memories of Pat and love life to the fullest as he did.

God Speed and Rest in Peace

This is the first time I have been able to sit down at the computer since we found Pat. I’m feeling angry, sad and very alone. Bobby, Pat, Kenny and Josh, came to my house on Sunday to help me with my race boat. We weren’t successful that day but, the last thing Pat said to me as he was leaving my house that Sunday afternoon was, “bring the boat over on Monday, I’ll fix it”. Pat was the most selfless person I knew. Always willing to help out. Never say no attitude. Pat was my friend, my buddy, my mechanic. The squirrel. We have all lost too many of our family members, friends and comrades. We all take chances every time we Race, Test, or just GO FAST, in our boats. I think though, we have all learned a lesson, a very costly lessen that was taught to us by our fallen brothers. I believe that some of these tragedies could have been avoided if maybe they were wearing their life jackets. Maybe our fallen brothers are trying to teach us something? We all have had the time to start the grieving process, and it hurts, it hurts real bad. I don’t want to have my family and friends go through what we have all went through again. Therefore, I have made a commitment to my family and friends. That commitment is a promise for all on board to wear our PFD’s when my boat is on plane. We all live life on the edge, but at what cost? I don’t mean to sound pompous, but I do believe that some of our fallen brothers could have possibly been saved, had they been wearing some form life jacket. I have enough decals on my boat. I salute Smitty, Augie, Allen and the rest of the safety committee within the OPA for keeping us safe while racing. God Bless our fallen brothers.

I spent most of the afternoon with Bobby and he is doing great. His Left hip was fractured and that was causing a lot of pain when he stood up. HE is doing better now and is going to get out of bed tommorow with the help of some crutches. He thanks everyone for all their thoughts and prayers. They said he may be out later this week. Jason also got one engine running today and he thinks the other needs a new ignition box and it will be ok.

Did they fire a boat up at the wake?

dreamboater 10-24-2008 08:55 AM

Actually just after the burial service. Not just any boat. It was the boat Pat built for he and his son to race, Thunderstruck. The boat has tractor stacks up through the motor hatch. The “squirrel power” was making some noise!

It was definitely a special touch to a very tragic, sad event.

I agree, that had to be a real touching moment. What a send off and tribute to Pat Reiter.

Karaokemike 10-24-2008 01:13 PM

some other people wanted to hear the boat run afterwards at a recption they had but there was not water and so it did not happen.

scarab kv 10-24-2008 02:56 PM

A 16 cylinder salute. How cool is that?
