I'm downsizing. 225 Promax on a 13ft boat!
I've been building this little 13 footer for about a month now. I got the motor on today. I still gotta get the interior done. It's a little overpowered, but it should be a trip!
Here's a link to the whole build from the beginning http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...d.php?t=167862 http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1720.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1777.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1776.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1778.jpg |
Wildman
Sweet... Been following the build on S&F. Now let's see what she can do:eek: |
Sweet!
Make sure the two bolts holding the motor are stainless or else your rigging might be called in question, love the steering cable and don;t forget the bungies to keep that thing down and when you go in reverse.... :drink: |
Thats awsome, I found a old mini cig for 2K and was thinking of doing the same. I wasn't planning on that much HP, I was thining more of 100hp.
WILL:ernaehrung004: |
I thought I was ambitious putting a merc200 on my 16'
That will be an absolute blast! Although that thing is so small, it will probably porpoise you to death. Also will want to sink at rest with all that weight in the rear. Have to say, the build was looking good until he decided to roll with the arch. is there a link to any video? |
I put the battery and gas tank up front. I finished all the wiring and rigging today. Motor will go back on tommorrow. Hope to get it wet on Friday.
|
Damn that little bugger is gonna fly :drink:
|
wear a good lifejacket and a helmet!!!! thought about make trick little tabs? faa certification??? holy bouncing bat boats batman..that thing is gonna fly!! looks sweet!
|
that is awesome! :evilb:
|
I would really like to see some videos of that badboy running.
Please take some pics and shoot some vid if you can. |
I'm gonna take video when I get it wet as long as someone is with me. It's probably gonna be a handful to drive, but it will definitely get some attention! I'm hoping that the extra 150 lbs of gas and battery in the bow will help. At least iy will give me some tongue weight so I can tow it.
|
I like those thin Lenco electric tabs. Shouldn't add too much weight back there.

|
Hey you need to place a bet with Triple ditchits, 100+ BAYABY
|
Holy crap! I had a 15ft Laser with a mean ass 140 on it I barrell rolled when the cable broke - it was a frikkin riot, lean while on the pad and it would turn ... then again sometimes it wouldn't ... my best friend swore he was sticking 3 handles on each side as it was going to kill me if I stayed in it....
Long story short it sank when I rolled it - then flew off the trailer on the way to get painted after the sinkin ... ended up sellin the motor and just givin it away - found a way to get in a real boat..... a job!! LOL!! Be careful and send the vid!! |

Well, tommorrows the big day! The boat is all rigged and running. I need to do a few thing yet, like putting on the motor skirt, finishing the rubrail, and changing out the steering wheel. The interior is a few weeks out. The motor is all rebuilt with new rings, etc. I don't think the fact that I can't hammer on it will matter much because it's gonna be outta control before the revs ever get too high. For now I just put a 28 Trophy on it. I'll get more pics and video tommorrow if I don't die first!

life insurance up to date?? hehehehee
|
I ain't skeered!! But I am old enough to be careful until I see how it handles. This same motor ran 101 mph on one of my 18ft Liberator cats.
|
Well, finally got it wet. Boat floats real well, but very weight sensative from right to left. Straight skyward on takeoff, but planes quickly. I could only run it about 5 minutes due to a split fuel line on the high pressure side. I barely made it back to the ramp. It hops a bit until I trimmed it, then it was fine up til about 60 where it gets a bit squirrely. I could never open it up for more that a few seconds. Absolutely UNGODLY acceleration! Probably as hard as my twin Liberator with 28's! Does'nt seem to have hardly any prop torque, but don't let go of the wheel or you'll be swimming.
Here's a couple of quick videos of me coming by the ramp. It's in a little cove, so not much speed here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsNU9gOVYm8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRVPyyvLhDs http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1795.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1796.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1797.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/100_1798.jpg |

pretty sweet, I bet even some old spring loaded tabs off of a junker would help with the side to side
|
Fine looking machine.
.Where do you place the GPS???:drink: Back in the 60s/70s I had a 17' Kona with a Merc 115 on it.. I went to buy the new Merc 150 "blue Max"and the dealer refused to install it saying it was too powerful especially in turns... |
"WILDMAN for PRESIDENT" He has the guts.
|
uh WOW. :ernaehrung004:
|
That's funny looking! Almost like it's Photo Shopped. Congrats.:drink::drink:

Bit(hin Ride!
That boat is you Randy! Wing and all! Long live the King!:drink::drink:

I took the boat out again today. I got it running right now that I fixed the broken fuel and bleeder lines. I could only hold it open for about 10 seconds before the overheat horn would go off. It has a Torquemaster case with only side water intakes. The shaft is 4.5" below the bottom, but for some reason, it sucks air when I get up to speed. I only expected to be able to run about 60 before it got out of control. I discovered that if I keep the nose in the water a bit, it's not to bad to drive. Now for the biggest surprise.

Nice, keep it safe.
|
I was by myself, so no way to video it. I hope to next time. I was very surprised that the boat could be driven at those speeds. If the boat had a pad, I'm sure it would really scream. I told the wife about it. She asked if I had a death wish! I just said "NO" but it sure was fun! Here's some more pics from today.
