ok...need a legally trailer-able roomy (a/c,heat, head) dependable fairly fast boat... would like it to be 34' or longer seeing as I like room..give me your opinions.

1BIGJIM 01-12-2009 09:38 AM

The first question to any boating question is how deep are your pockets?:party-smiley-004:

LAriverratt 01-12-2009 09:41 AM

I don't think these go hand in hand.....:grinser010:

To me it sounds like you want a fairly useable cabin. In that case I would think about some of the 38 formula's. Nice boat, more cabin than lots of other boats, decent resale, good lines, towable, lots to choose from in that price range....

Active Thunder's also have useable cabins from what I have seen and nice lines.

I would be discrediting CIG if I didn't mention that I am partial to the flat bottom Cafes and Top Gun's - the cabin layout and enclosed head work well for me and my wife, but we are small, don't mind having zero headroom, and don't mind being slow.

Tom A. 01-12-2009 12:37 PM

The 38 Donzi Zx offers a great cabin layout but only 5'10" of head room. 6'1" is going to be tough.

Check out Sonic Lots of room

BAJA WILL 01-12-2009 12:54 PM

For the small criteria you are offering, I would suggest looking at a SONIC or BLACK THUNDER. Both you can find very nice deals on right now.

WILL

LAriverratt 01-12-2009 12:57 PM

I have been looking at some formulas ss's but they are 10'6". I think the fountain ec is as well. What formula are you referring to seafordguy? The sonics look like they may be ok and I will check out the Active Thunder too.

Cobalt 343 with 525's ,It has the creature comforts you're looking for also it has a fast delta pad stepped hull if you thinking of a later power upgrade. This boat was bought for 160K cdn
with only 170 hrs on it.

There is a 38 baja on ebay for 65k. 525's, xr's, all new..add says absolutley perfect condition. It is not going to take the big water like an apache but it has 6'3" headroom, genset, a/c, etc. I had one with 502's 415hp and it was good for 63mph. Not sure what the extra 220 hp will do.

BAJA WILL 01-12-2009 01:47 PM

Oh forgot Baja 405, thats pretty bad since I sell Baja, but not sure how trailerable it is??:ernaehrung004:

johnny g 01-12-2009 01:51 PM

Buy mine! Im right around the corner from you.

Griff 01-12-2009 02:08 PM

Black Thunder, Sonic, Baja 405

LAriverratt 01-12-2009 02:39 PM

Black thunders look good...most are out of my budget...and some with trips...holly cr*p the added gas and maintenance...not ready for that just yet...so it looks like a boat slip for a formula or a sonic, or maybe a baja but don't know the beam yet...what ya got for sale johnnyg???

johnny g 01-12-2009 03:54 PM

Its a sonic 31ss gimme a address and I`ll send info.
[email protected]

johnny g 01-12-2009 03:59 PM

You say you`ll keep it in a slip. Where you planning on keeping it? Are you gonna run the rivers around here? If so I can tell you a 31 is a great size. I`ve run from the Amite river to Biloxi a couple times and it was great.

JackL 01-12-2009 04:02 PM

Check out Noli's 34 superboat on the Superboat thread.
Killer price and you can finish it your way.

jmeng 01-12-2009 04:11 PM

6'1" headroom is going to be tough. For around here, anything bigger than a 38' is getting pretty large. Formula 382 would be my choice for your needs.

You'll definetly have the biggest boat in Watson. :D

CustomRigger101 01-12-2009 07:28 PM

unlitimed head room in a center concole.. LOL

150k you can get a pretty good boat for that kind of money

you can get a cig w/ 525s 2001 or 2002

donzi, fountain, thunderbird, or black thunder boats are going to have heat/air..and you can get any of those for that money

but if you get air/heat. you need to find one with a gene.. or you ahve to go dockside.. and that's no fun

LAriverratt 01-20-2009 10:28 AM

from all the info you guys have given me I'm getting confused as H%.LL....lol...I really just need to see um in person to know what I really want. 370ss...seen em...lacking in mph unless they have 525's and then to much $$$. The 382 I'd like to see along with a Baja or two. Justified expence...Watson huh...how ya figure???...Know me some how???.lol

89scarabIII 01-20-2009 11:23 AM

Same criteria I had. We ended up with a fountain sport cruiser. My first pic if I could have spent more money would have been a Black Thunder, second is 38' and up sonic. I have seen both of these boats selling in your price range lately. Nice sonic 38' in oso classifieds for $75.

jmeng 01-20-2009 11:25 AM

Nah, don't think I know you. Saw Watson in your profile and never miss a chance to pick on my Livingston Parish neighbors. :D Actually have a lot of family from out that way. Good luck on your search.

PARADOX 01-20-2009 12:03 PM

Can't offer the 6' cabin. At least not in height. :) Pretty roomy and long however.
2008 true 33' with 525's/ Charlie Mccarthy's racing hull. (Banana / Coyote Beep-Beep) Similar to Sonics, dif. deck. Warranty, and you can always add a gen. and AC. But . really .. how often anyone use the cabin that much anyway?

In a 38' range. Formula, Hustler, or AT.

292SR1 01-20-2009 10:14 PM

My 42 Sonic has AC/Heat and Gen...and 6 2'' of headroom.

1998 w/ fresh 500's, 2005 Steel custom Myco. PM me if you want more info.

I have a few connections...well that just the word of mouth for whatever that's worth say they can get me in a slip close by. :snide::party-smiley-048:The dealers offer slips if you buy but that only lasts 6 months to a year. Do you know of any close that would be closest to the might motropolis of Watson ?

LapseofReason 01-21-2009 11:07 AM

358 Sonic has everything you need, I like the 386, same cabin as the 358 but room for a gen. I had a 42 Sonic it was a great boat but the cockpit is smaller than the 386 and the cabins are good on all. The 358 and 386 you could tow with a 3/4 -1 ton with a single rear wheel truck any bigger and I would want a dually. Speed would be mid to upper 70's with the 525's in a 358 or 386 low 70's on a 42. I am 6'5" so I know how you feel.

johnny g 01-21-2009 11:13 AM

Theres some condos on the Diversion that usually have some available to rent. Theyre covered hoists. Let me know if you want a number I`ll get one for you. Or I`ll show them to you when you come see my boat :evilb:

johnny g 01-21-2009 01:06 PM

Any time. My house is on your way to the condos.

johnny g 01-21-2009 02:38 PM

I just noticed on another thread that you do bulkhead and gravel work. I need both! Hopefully we can work out a deal.

LAriverratt 01-21-2009 03:47 PM

I can help you out with the gravel for sure...:evilb:...haven't quite gotten started in the bulkhead work...new business in the works but would be glad to take a look at what you need done. I'll give you a call ahead of time before I head your way.
