Shop until you drop! Frankly there's not too many bad boats out there. Some bad stories maybe (all have them but low percentage is what counts), but you have to find the one that fits your taste and gets you within the envelope of performance you're looking for. You can always tweak it up some to where you want it as time goes by, especially if you're buying used and can do some tweaking because you don't have a warranty to be concerned about....

Best of luck and keep posting on your progress and thought process. It makes for an interesting learning curve for us all....

Biggus Dikkus (kurt) is selling his 280 baja es
that is a true 28 hull with 2 ft swim platform moulded in so it measures out at 30 feet
He has twin 454's I believe the mags
Boat tweaked with intakes, carbs and right props with twin mags should be upper 70's unless you have 12 anchors and 9 cases of beer on board with 9 people
Not quite sure what he is asking but it is WAY less than 50 grand im sure
8'6" beam BIG cabin for a 28 amenities (fridge, sink ect)
He is buying a top gun and is down in Florida now I think

This is my first offshore style boat and from moving up from a bayliner and a stephens drag boat to this, it is unreal
If your really stuck on having twins, there are only a few to choose from in the 28 range with big blocks
Baja being one of them (although not anymore)
28 sonic does not offer twin big blocks anymore either

My first choice in boats was a sonic before I bought my baja but my budget would not allow me to get one so I held off and got my 280ES
Mine with twin 330's can hit just under 70 (66-67 ish)
so BD has mags I think, absolutely 70+ boat

You can get the 30' SUPERBOAT, a true 29'-10" plus the swim platform that brings it to around 32' for 64K with the 496, I tested one last summer at 74mph 76 on speedo with a labbed 26 and 3 people in the boat. the boat is light (4650lbs) and handles like a dream, a lot of boat for $64,000.

My 288 with a single 496HO with stock 24P Bravo prop peaks at 69.4 GPS...

I have a 28 Saber for sale in the classifieds. Built incredibly well and has a lot more headromm down below than a Pantera. Although I like the Pantera's very much, I settled on the Saber because the hull is higher sided and gives my a wife a more secure feeling and the factory support if great. I am asking $55,000 and am will to take offers. My wife wants to go to mid 30's size boat.

I have seen twin big blocks in a 28' Sunsation. Tight but they do it.

To my knowledge the AT hull problems were not with the 28 or 32's, unless I'm uninformed on that. Even if there are problems, AT I'm sure will take care of it (from what I hear from others), probably better than most.

Thank you for your interest in our line of boats.It does not take big power to get mid 70s out of the boat.I build alot of twin engine big block 28 models that are running 78-79 MPH on gps with stock 496-375 HP packages. With the twin 425 HO I just gps one at 83 MPH.Over the years boats have gotten lighter with the advancements in lamination materials and composites.I do not know if you are looking at an older Pantera or not.The new boats we are building now are approximately 1000 pounds lighter now than boats we built 10-15 years ago.In reference to the cabin we have a large 7 foot v-berth with a large wrap around seating area with a porta potti, locker,and storages thruout the entire cabin.The entire cabin is finished in a white vinyl with 1/2 inch padding with colored light panels.Being that we are a custom boat builder we will put in any additional items that a customer would need.For example we have put in A/C , sink, icechest, upon customers request.If I can answer any questions for you please feel free to email me or visit our facility here in N.Miami and I will GPS you a 28 with twins so you may see its speed and handling in the ocean.Regards, JO
