Stupid or Crazy... who cares. Looked and sounded good though!

Steve_H 01-15-2009 07:55 PM

Keytime 01-15-2009 11:14 PM

DrewDown 01-16-2009 12:21 AM

both, but mostly stupid.

Enforcer2 01-16-2009 04:23 AM

Were u refering to the blondes :drink:

gofastlvr 01-16-2009 08:50 AM

One little bobble and he would have had an aweful big mess to clean up!

BowenCT 01-16-2009 12:24 PM

Wow man, dangerous as hell but that must have been INTENSE being on that wakeboard boat!!!!!!!!

Powerquest_Baby!! 01-16-2009 12:26 PM

Good thing nobody was in the water swimming! What an idiot!

BraceYourself 01-16-2009 12:35 PM

Whoever was driving should be arrested. At that speed the odds of a mistake happening are high. 10-15 people would of lost their life for no good reason. Sorry to be a downer.

If those were my loved ones on that boat, I would be calling the owner of the nortech.

45sonic 01-16-2009 01:00 PM

A$$ HOLE. Completely uncalled for action

What a jerk off... We wonder why more bodies of water are going to speed limits and our insurance continues to skyrocket? Its idiots like this that make the rest of us look bad.

TCBoss302 01-16-2009 01:58 PM

Does anyone recognize the boat? I would bet he is a member here. The kids in the ski boat have no clue how dangerous that was.

Fully Agreed, I am a very forgiving person, but hat was just waaay too close.

Just a thought, what if they had a rope in the water?????

JasonSmith 01-16-2009 03:33 PM

I'm kinda guessing the people in the Nortech know the people in the boat they were hauling ass by. I'm not saying it makes it OK, it was not a smart move for either crew.
Cool looking, but the coulda killed someone factor kinda overshadows the coolness.

LaughingCat 01-16-2009 03:52 PM

Stupid. but consdiering they did it, it looks cool on video. Wouldn't want to be that close in real life.

MidOcean 01-16-2009 04:54 PM

When the worst happens, and it's easy to do at such a close range, those who are hell bent on legislating our sport to death will have won another victory.

Uncle Dave 01-16-2009 05:00 PM

Both.

If the floating boat had a camera crew that had agreed to do this, and the nor tech driver knew the camera boat wasnt going to move anywhere - then its merely crazy.

As it plays out here its both.

Uncle Dave

BJM 01-16-2009 05:08 PM

No big deal. I would be fine in either boat.

Thats you BJ... I know how much you are a dare Devil...

You don't know how to let off the throttle....

Did anyone ever get shorty straightened out??

Mentalpause 01-16-2009 07:35 PM

I had a similar experience last year at the Friday LOTO fun run the day before the shootout. We have run in that run previously, but now that I have a Formula Cruiser we got 20 minutes or so in front of it.

Knowing the run we hugged the cliffs around the 27MM, leaving 90% of the channel for the front running cats to have plenty of room.

That didn't sway a couple of them as they felt compelled to buzz us running 130+ mph.

It was cool, but it was way more dangerous than cool, and totally uncalled for.

Uncle Dave 01-16-2009 07:47 PM

Didn't look much like a camera crew to me.

OMG!!! And how many awsome boaters were lost in the past because of freak accidents? And this idiot??? Show them chicks what an "accident" looks like, bet they will think twice about that again!

John, did you ever finish the boat you cut the nose off of and mount it? Would love to see pics of it mounted somewhere

letterrip 01-18-2009 08:52 AM

SHOW OFF / IDIOT!

He probably wanted to live out "smokey and the bandit" all his life growing up! "

Burt Reynolds Quote ; It's what I do..... I Show Off!

Fun for some but not every one of those people on the ski boat could have been completely comfortable with that move but had no choice than to deal with it.

I agree if that was anyone of my family I would be "Bull"

Nice move "Jack Ass"... !

DareDevil 01-18-2009 09:23 AM

I actually think that the people on the skiboat know him and that this was what they had planed to shoot this video !!!!
Buddy sayd ,,hey take your cat i i film you when you pass us at high speed .

don't u think ????
And also who doesent show off with a fast boat,,,,having fun showing off ,,,thats what its all about ?!

Do you think somebody is buying a ferrari to go to the store and go shoping ?

Every Highdollar toy is ment to show off,,,thats live.

And as long nothing happens its ok.

Stupid?????? yes
Cool ?????? ofcorse

Crazy???? aren't we all ?!:ernaehrung004:

letterrip 01-18-2009 09:28 AM

totally agree , it is what it's all about with a cool boat ! :drink:

but within reason though.... unfortunately accidents happen, thats why it's called an accident.

Hence the word "had".
This wasnt an agreed upon crew that planned this in advance.

Yeah 9-99.7% of the time all this results in is a cooling down and a great show,

- but if you've ever personally seen the result of .02% you'd put a few more feet between you and those kids.

From my late teens to early 20s I saw a lot of stuff like this and even did it more than a few times myself.

One spring I was floating from the parker dam downriver and watched a guy pulling high speed passes in a wicked blown Sanger/Hondo Hydro hit a roller and lose it right into a group of kids floating like these were not more than 30 feet away from me. It killed a couple instantly a few others maimed all for what? A good show?

Ever see a bravo without external steering catastrophically fail?
You go from a straight line run to a instant 100% left right turn- Brutal.

Id agree that day, that water,- no big deal in that boat - at the same time you NEVER know when the .02% dice roll snakeyes.

Trying to figure out weather I sound like an old man- or I am one (at 42)

No never did but I still have it.

PARADISE ISLAND 01-18-2009 05:54 PM

Looked like truth or dare a little scary but I've seen worse:eek::cool-smiley-027:

4mulafastech 01-18-2009 06:10 PM

Stupid. No need to get that close! Absolutely no room for error. Would still be plenty 'cool' with more distance between the boats and they could get better photo shots as well.

This is one of the most ridiculous posts I have seen regarding a totally UNSAFE boating practice. Are you 19 or something, or just drunk posting? :ernaehrung004:

Was it stupid or crazy? You bet! Here’s a few more words to add that would apply:
  • Illegal
  • Irresponsible
  • Dangerous
  • Negligent
  • Immature
  • Hazardous
  • Risky
  • Deadly
  • Childish
  • Careless
  • Foolish
  • Reckless
  • Senseless

You don't buy a high performance boat to go around and do this, just like you don't go and buy a Ferarri and see how close you can get to someone on the sidewalk while nearing redline RPMs.

This was not pre-planned. This was a deliberate idiot that got lucky this time and made himself feel good and gave those kids a thrill. The guy was probably drunk too. Who in their right mind would 110+ by a full boat or people with what looks like less than 8 feet away. What an A$$HOLE in the Nortech. Not a young A$$HOLE either.......(if this video is the same boat and driver).

I think the post was a smart one. Maybe it will make others think before making a move like this. Totally agree on the rest of your thread though.
Does anyone know who this guy is? What's the name of this boat? VERY CURIOUS!!!!
:hitfan:

daredevil's post? Seriously?

Lofty 01-21-2009 07:36 PM

1 azz hole with nice boat. Keep him away from myself and my familly please! That kind of stunt is what kills people and will put an end to our sport. I don't think there was anything cool or sweet about that pass it was just plain wreckless and foolish.
