Fuel pumps
I am dumping my 7.4 MPI's and building 496's with edelbrock heads, eagle bottom ends, Crane 731/741, victor intakes, 950 carbs. Do I have a designated fuel pump for each motor or use a central pump for both? How do I know how much flow I need from the pump(s)?

One motor one pump. Plus add a fuel pressure gauge for each engine.:ernaehrung004:

If you run 3\8 fuel lines at 6 or 7 psi life will be good.:ernaehrung004:

sorry maybe I wasn't clear---can I use Holley blues? Need bigger? What kind of GPH?

I'm sure that holley blue's will work just fine with reg's.

I hadn't thought about it but could I use the pumps from the 7.4's?

You could, you would just need a regulator to keep it at 7 psi. Darrell. |

Holley blue pumps should be enough for what you are building. Just make sure you use a large filter/water seperator and 1/2" lines. Also, make sure the pickup in the tank is large enough. I have seen so many boats with a little piece of crap plastic pickup. No matter how big a pump you put, if the pickup is to small, it won't work. Do not assume the pickup is big enough. Take it out and have a look. I build my own from SS tubing and fittings. Here is a pic of a factory one in a Donzi and the replacement that I built.
