don't want to put Hatch Scoop

Hello group, i'm putting a tall motor/blowers in my 33 Outlaw and the only way it fit's is to put the scoops in. With the groups help, i got to see some pictures of the scoop on a Baja, but i don't like it at all. Has anyone done a raise to the hatch, to increase the hight, so one does not need a scope, to make it look like a sleeper/factory look? Any Pictures?

I am about 4 inches short. I don't have the exact dimentions, but they are for a bouble carbs on each side. I would need to raise it about 4". I would hate to use the scoop. To raise the sides 4 inches will look very high.

i had a 32 baja outlaw that i put blower motors in.i cut holes in the hatch, made boxes from .125 aluminum, mounted them in the holes and made a new pad for the hatch out of high density foam,i used 6 in thick foam instead of the origional 2 in foam, then called baja, they sent me new material to put over the foam, when it wad done,it looked like it came from baja that way.

Gary Taylor makes an awesome low profile wide scoop. These things are huge......I installed a pair on my boat..........I too thought having a custom raised hatch made before I found these.....

Some people put an insert on the underneath side of the hatch to give more clearance without altering the pad. Maybe that combined with some low profile flame arrestors will work...

This is a shot of a 33 with 575's I can't see why even 8-71's wouldn't fit in there...are you running innercoolers? Rasied carb flanges? What is the distance from the crank centers to the top of the flame arresters
