Poker run boats

Ok, bear with me, I am in BFI japan and bored out of my mind.

Question:

If you were going to build or buy a pure poker run boat (No Cabin), why would you even consider a V over a cat?:food-smiley-007:

What do you see as advantage or disadvantages?

depends on where you'll be attending poker runs
open ocean = v-hull or real big cat
flat water = cat

just my .02

Why choose the V hull in open water over the cat?

I thought modern big cats handle the rough just as good as V hulls?

And, thanks for your .02 I'll take anything I can get!

Why would you think that? They are good, but you have two hulls to worry about piercing big waves, not one. :D That was my 1/2 cent

Insurance

Big cats== big transport problems , lots of expense when you tilt them on there side, insurance and the big water risk is always there, when the big lakes kick up Erie or Mich and the water is mixed up 5-8' footer's that cat is going to be a problem where as a big V will just bring you home safely ! just my nickel :drink:

Insurance?? Transportation??

I for one would really like to see a head to head with say a 42 Fountain PR to say a 42Mti PR with exact same stock power say 700's or 1075's or even 525's. It seems to me everytime a V hull or Cat bragg about passing one another, the power is not even?? I am not convinced that a big cat is faster given same power by todays V hulls, 8 years ago yes, but today ????

BTW we used to sell a certain Cat builder.

You can see this at any OSS race the supercat lite vs. OSS vee

The cat is faster.
