Mercury Racing pulls the plug??
 

So I had a chat with Strip Poker Rob today, he's at the OSS race.

Apparently Mercury Racing made an announcement they were pulling the plug on sponsorship for OSS???:eek::mad:

Anyone hear the same?

I heard a rumor they were in trouble. Dismissed it as talk. Maybe its true. I know that there are many manufacturers that havent sold a boat in months.

Unfortunately this rough economic time might thin the marine business a little bit. Hopefully if thats true they can come back as the economy turns.

I talked to a customer at the Race and he said the same, no more support from Merc. Racing.

I heard Biloxi was the last race. :(

With the economy the way it is and Mercury being the largest Hi Performance of boat engines. Performance boat sales being way down, I can't blame them its either sponsor or start cuttng back and Mercury is already shutting down some key plants. Hopefully 2009-2010 starts to show signs of improvement.

I see it as an opportunity for some other manufacturer's

Look for "The Hill" to be relocated to Stillwater.

Is also heard some people at the race saying Lake X is shutting down. Can anyone verify that?
