Default Mercury Racing pulls the plug??

So I had a chat with Strip Poker Rob today, he's at the OSS race.

Apparently Mercury Racing made an announcement they were pulling the plug on sponsorship for OSS???

Anyone hear the same?

With the economy the way it is and Mercury being the largest Hi Performance of boat engines. Performance boat sales being way down, I can't blame them its either sponsor or start cuttng back and Mercury is already shutting down some key plants. Hopefully 2009-2010 starts to show signs of improvement.

Look for "The Hill" to be relocated to Stillwater.

Is also heard some people at the race saying Lake X is shutting down. Can anyone verify that?

Brutal!!

I'm not their accountant obviously, but it would be surprising if the "other" companies that compete with Merc are doing any better than they are, ESPECIALLY doing well enough to try filling Mercury's spot in racing.

Isn't Mercury pretty much the sole sponsor in SBI as well?
