Cheater motors.

6000 RPM

The usual Fountain crap.

Wild 04-13-2009 09:37 AM

stock 700s no way

even if they are bumped up to 800hp, thats still an impressive number

jryan26 04-13-2009 09:42 AM

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/f...s-believe.html

That is awesome.

AppSysCons 04-13-2009 09:47 AM

No question, Fountain makes fast, very fast boats, but here are the engine specs direct from Mercury Racing, on the HP700SCi.

I saw 6000 rpm on tachs, something is not right.

Mercury racing 700 sci limiters are 5450 rpm. There is a lot you can do to the 700 and 850 and the 1075 engines if you can get into the box and pulley changes.

Pro1 04-13-2009 09:53 AM

My buddy went for a ride on the OL 42 Super lego and he asked us if the 700s should spin 6200.

ApachePete 04-13-2009 10:25 AM

Can a GPS speedo be tampered with, too? :evilb:

Rik 04-13-2009 10:35 AM

There might be more there than meets the eye, but, the 700 NXT engine makes 785 hp at the crank and MERCURY also told me that they have 720 at the propeller shaft with this package.

So, I think everyone's base line is off here. 800 is low.

Detail Toyz 04-13-2009 10:44 AM

How does it go that fast? 10mph more than normal puls runnin 6000 rs lets just find out the truth and not post rummors

ApachePete 04-13-2009 11:48 AM

Deleted post said he had the computers re-programed to set the limiters @ 5800. But he calls the motors "stock."

NOT!

Probably also increased the boost, among other "tricks."

But who really knows?

Welcome to Reggieville.

Maybe I missed it, but where is he claiming these motors are stock? He started a thread with a video he put together running some great numbers... Whats with all the hate?

Begining of video says "powered by 2 Mercury 700 horse-power blower motors."

The deleted message from "Roger", he states that the motors are "stock," but with higher rev-limiters.

Absolutely no hate: just tired of the never-ending BS coming out of North Carolina.

The video is great.

The speed is fantastic.

It would be even more interesting if we could learn what it really took to get that speed. Others with Merc 700's might be very interested.

Like T2x, I too am allergic to Bull-$hit.

2 fast 4 you 04-13-2009 05:08 PM

The boat is running a lot more like a 42 with 850's. Thats gotta be one of the fastest 38's out there. They show a close up of the pullies....any experts out there notice if they're stock or changed?

pumpkin 04-13-2009 05:55 PM

about 850hp hopped up 700merc and a slightly mis calibrated gps will get you to 123mph

SmurfOnABoat 04-13-2009 06:06 PM

Sure sounds like Reggie's voice on this video.

acaruso 04-13-2009 06:24 PM

Roger 04-13-2009 06:42 PM

OK, here's part of the spill. Back in May of last year I took the boat back to Fountain. When new the boat ran 114.8 but on my trip back it only ran 110ish. Brian checked it out and it had developed a hook in the bottom. The guys worked it out and did a few tricks on the bottom and when I ran it at the Jammin on the James the tell-tell was at 117.8. I saw 114.00 with two people on the boat and 240 gallons of fuel all against the rev limiter. I will say that the limiters are now set at 5800. So 117.00 against the limiters and now 5800, you do the math. No wrench has been turned on the engines.

jryan26 04-13-2009 06:51 PM

Roger
That is awesome man congrats:ernaehrung004:

CB-BLR 04-13-2009 06:56 PM

Whipple stage I kit for the 700's is a PCM reprogram and gives the motor about 815 hp at the crank.

Whipple stage II kit includes a smaller pulley (3.25" as opposed to the stock 3.6"), and boost is encreased from the stock 7 lbs to 9 lbs. HP is around 850.

Dustin can set the rev limiter anywhere you want, but 6k is his recommendation.

I have a stage II Whipple kit on my 600sci, and it now produces aproximately 750hp. My boat went from 80-82 mph to between 91 and 94 mph.

I have the 3.25 pulley on my motor, and it looks just like the ones on those motors.

Next year, I will be upgrading to a 700 cam.

Give Dustin a call... His kits really work.

Hope this helps,
Chris

P.S. At the very least, these motors have had the PCM reprogrammed to raise the boost using the stock pulley, and raise the rev limiter. This is worth about 75 hp per side on these motors

P.P.S. -- Awsome running boat -- Congrats !!

GS42fun 04-13-2009 06:57 PM

Those numbers are just plain awesome.

Congrats.

mcraymond3 04-13-2009 07:39 PM

Give it a break! This sort of chit has been going on for some 30 years. You can't appreciate the number this boat has run? Regardless of the brand? Any boat running this speed is a major accomplishment, let it be just that. This man has a lot to be proud of here, I wish mine ran like this!

I agree that it is a major accomplishment.

I just wish he would tell us how it was done.

I admit that the Madoff post was stupid.

Sorry.

You Fountain guys sure are loyal to the brand!

Did you guys even bother to read the thread? Roger posted this on page 2. Not trying to be a dick but you're calling the guy out and he's already posted the info.

Great video Roger. Boat looks like its dialed in perfectly. Amazing speed on a mostly stock v-bottom.
